It's been 20 years since I've been in a tree house, and I fell for this spa because it got me back into one. Two of the Marú ("soft of sound and soft of touch") Spa's five treatment rooms are cradled in the branches of two 40-foot trees. Leaves rustle against the walls as a breeze wafts through the curtains and birds sing a lullaby. The lofty rooms' only shortcoming: They can't accommodate the most singular treatments, the Te Ua Moahi, which includes a wrap with skin-regenerating tamanu balm and a massage under a Vichy shower, and the Honeymoon Bliss, which concludes with a coconut-milk bath in an enormous granite tub. I loved it even as a treatment for one. — A.A.
