The Mayflower Spa is the most expensive destination spa in the country. One word tells you why it's worth it: unlimited. As in unlimited very good treatments. That's right, you could fill each day with Red Flower body rituals, Thai massage with a Cambodian therapist, and any of the dozens of other offerings on the menu. (My favorite: the Mayflower Sweet Surrender massage, which worked like spa Ambien for me.) There's also unlimited access to mind-body and yoga classes, and the lift that comes from constant exposure to the fine-boned elegance of the inn, one of the country's best. The rooms are plump with creature comforts, and the 20,000-square-foot spa is luxe and luminous, a manifestation of owner Adriana Mnuchin's belief that beautiful surroundings are calming and uplifting. The only thing you can't have to your heart's content is the food, devised by spa-cuisine star Cary Neff. Meals, which are included in the rates, are monitored for portion size. From Sunday afternoon through Friday morning, the spa is open only to destination-spa program guests (20 maximum). On weekends, it's á la carte. — A.A.
