Spa Du Soleil
Nice spa but... March 6, 2007
My initial impresson of Spa Du Soleil was nice - the decor was relaxing and the staff was welcoming. I went with a friend, and requested two female massage therapists. But once we got there, they had booked one male and one female therapist. Fortunately, they were able to reach a part-time female therapist to assist. But things went wrong from there... first, the massage was a bit painful for a swedish, and second, the massage was not for the full 80 minutes (I had a requested a 90-minute massage) -- it lasted only 60 minutes. And by the time I realized this, I was already dressed and the therapist had left the room. Feeling that there must have been another mix up, I spoke to the front desk and told them that I had requested a 90-minute massage and that the therapist might had mistaken it for a 60-minute massage. The receptionist acknowledged my concern and informed me that they would only charge me for a 60-minute massage. Moments later, the therapist had the audacity to accuse me of being "confused". She claimed that I was wrong, stating an example that a 60-minute service is actually a 50-minute massage with 10 minutes for disrobing and robing. I acknowledged the 10-minute changing time, and then went on to explain to her my understanding that for a 90-minute service, the massage itself should be at least 80 minutes, and not the 60 minutes that she performed. At that point, she still only acknowledged that she owed me 5 minutes. It was unbelievable. In the end, they only charged me for a 60-minute massage, and the full-time staff sincerely apologized for the incident, but the experience was very upsetting. They need to make sure that all their therapists are honest and do not try to cheat their clients. But on a side note, my friend did enjoy the services.

Relaxing enviroment for ladies March 6, 2007 | 624 of 1,211 people found this review helpful
The Oaks at Ojai is definitely a girlfriends get-away for those who want to just relax and get healthy. I was there for their "Day of Pampering" package back in July 2006, and it was my very first spa experience. The massage was divine - I couldn't have asked for a better first professional massage. The facial was also wonderful - the asthetician was kind and I even almost fell asleep! The pedicure was okay - the service was fair. And the lunch was a pleasant surpise - it was good and healthy. By the end of the day, I felt peaceful and relaxed. I definitely plan to return for a few days in the future.
Note: The facilities are a bit dated, but very well maintained and clean.

Relaxing massage but not your typical spa March 6, 2007 | 20 of 42 people found this review helpful
The massage itself was great --- it put me right to sleep. But the location of the "spa" is not typical. It is a modified motel room at the Caliente Tropics Inn. But the service was good and the therapists were friendly.
