Maui Zen Day Spa
Would love to visit Maui again... July 9, 2009 | 33 of 65 people found this review helpful
I visited Maui earlier this year and stayed in Wailea Beach. Towards the end of my stay, I decided to rent a car and make my way to Lahaina so I could visit Front Street and watch Ulalena. Along the way I saw Maui Zen Day Spa and decided to book a massage treatment. I enjoyed it so much and even got to talk to the owner and my massage therapist who were both very relaxed. I would love to visit Maui again so I can stay in Lahaina and be closer to Maui Zen for my spa needs. If I'm blessed with the opportunity to visit Lahaina again, I would totally plan more visits here.

MY BIRTHDAY TREAT February 5, 2009 | 45 of 86 people found this review helpful
When my hubby asked me what I wanted for my b-day, I told him that I had already scheduled my spa treatments at MSJ. It was so nice and the staff was nothing but accommodating and professional. I was so pleased. I believe my therapists were Angie and Jessica. I had to apologize to Angie for falling into that “where am I?” slumber and snoring myself awake when she was giving me the foot massage that accompanied the Mud Wrap I received. She kindly assured me that I was fine. Both of them were very attentive to make sure I was completely comfortable. I loved the décor of the room. I can appreciate their eco-friendly philosophy. What a nice and unexpected “gift” for future use...they provided me the exfoliating gloves from my Mud Wrap to use at home!

I've really tried to like this place... July 9, 2009 | 52 of 113 people found this review helpful
I've been to this spa at least 6x or more and can honestly say that I've yet to feel at home here. During all of the svcs I've rec'd in 2 different rooms, I had to endure an hour or longer of non-stop BANGING noises from the other side of the walls. (No exaggerating!) Also, the owner has seen me on many occasions come thru at chk-in or chk-out, even in the hallway, and not once has she greeted me or even smiled at me. This place is EXTREMELY small and tight with a waiting area consisting of 2 chairs so crammed in between the front entrance and receptionist's desk that at times I feel like the receptionist's desk is literally 1 inch away from my nose. I have even witnessed other people accidentally run into things in the retail area (also crammed between the receptionist's area) and feeling embarrassed about causing the items to collapse and fall to the ground. During my massage svcs as well, the therapist has rubbed against my arm while moving positions around the treatment table, and I've heard her back rub against the walls too!
As I'm typing this I can't help but shake my head in disbelief and disappointment because I've really tried to like this place. Unfortunately, with every visit, I find yet another reason to turn away...even their promotions are misleading. I get their emails boasting about their "great deals" but in reality, they are just plain BAIT for people to spend more money. Why be on SpaFinder if you're not going to accept their GCs? And why sell GCs if you're not going to accept them for use on promotions? That's like me going to Macy's and being told that I can't use a Macy's GC for a pair of shoes on sale that I want to purchase. How does that make any sense? Unfortunately, I think this place is getting worse and worse, and I'm sad to predict that they won't stay much longer. After all, how can a place stay in business if they make their regular customers (like me) feel like they're getting a bad deal? It's just too sad, and it's about time I submitted my review for this place before it's too late.

DID *NOT* GIVE ME THE RELIEF I NEEDED... July 9, 2009 | 37 of 68 people found this review helpful
I visited this spa earlier this year when I had UNBEARABLE pain in my lower back. I knew that if I didn't get worked on, something bad was going to happen to my back so I splurged (or so I thought) on a 2 hr massage for myself. Sadly, the therapist seemed to not really know what she was doing or looking for. In fact, when I politely asked her for more pressure on 3 occasions, she told me I didn't need it. (??)Needless to say I was confused, irritated, and thus gave up after my 3rd attempt at asking for more pressure because I could feel myself feeling more stressed out. The next day, believe it or not, and chalk it up to "coincidence", I threw my back out so bad that I had chills all over my body. This extreme pain that I endured the next day was confirmation for me that I definitely did NOT get the relief I needed from this place the night before. I honestly wish I had a better experience here, especially because they are close to my home, they accept SpaFinder GCs and they gave me a Studio Cie certificate to use for my next visit. I don't know now where I placed that certificate, but I have to be honest in saying that I did look at it on several occasions and contemplated another visit to this spa. Sadly, I guess I was *that* disappointed that up to now, at least 4 months later...I still can't get myself to book another service here. Sigh.
