Amazing Little Secret!

My awesome boyfriend got me a spa journey at Uhma for my birthday in Nov '09, and I have to say, I was pampered from the first moment! Everyone was ready for my arrival, the owner himself personally prepared my organic pomegranate tea as I filled out my information form and enjoyed the delicious dried fruit.
My morning began with a fantastic coconut body scrub in the most serene room I've ever seen a spa have! My attendant was super sweet and we chit chatted a bit about how wonderful my man was for organizing all this for me. She was very attentive and knowledgeable- I informed her I had just gotten a tattoo on the tops of my shoulders (as I do every birthday as a tradition) and she assured me she would work around it and keep it completely safe and covered. The scrub smelled delightful and after rinsing it off in the shower, my skin was amazingly supple and buttery!
She returned for my Sabai Massage- an award winning favorite at Uhma (my boo had done his research) which utilizes two balls of cloth that is stuffed with herbs and oils. The balls are steamed in a bamboo heater and once at a safe temp, incorporated in the full body massage. THIS WAS HEAVEN! I don't care where you're from or what you do, this service is guaranteed to relax you! Seriously, every inch of my body was tranquil and I honestly felt like a Queen.
After that orgasmic-- oh, sorry I mean organic experience, I was lead into a room across the hall for my final treatment- a customized facial. I'm kicking myself for not recalling these amazing women's name's for the purpose of this review- but my technician had a beautiful accent and was gorgeous herself. She spoke softly and every movement was gentle yet efficient. She complimented me on my skin and basically told me there wasn't too much work for her to do (again, the Queen feeling returned) and asked me what I would like her to focus on. This attention to detail, and focus on MY needs stuck out to me, and I knew I had found my favorite spa. She used the decadent (and if you're a connoisseur, expensive) products of Jurlique which left my skin immaculate. Her fingers were light and feathery- and she didn't do a lot of moving/jostling around behind me (which I despise when you're trying to relax). I told her she can do light extraction around my nose since my party was that evening and she obliged courteously. I felt the usual discomfort, but no extreme pain with her extractions and when she was finished, I looked in the mirror and I was glowing. I'm Caribbean and Asian so I was concerned about my skin getting extra puffy or red afterwards, but I appeared to be kissed by angels- I was flawless.
All in all, my experience was incredible. I wish the day could go on forever. The staff was attentive and beyond kind. They gave me a sweet gift bag for my birthday (their signature Uhma Nagri body lotion) which was thoughtful, and I promised myself then and there that this was my spot! I love the coziness and intimacy of the place- its not huge and impersonal. Everything from the construction of the spa to the materials they use, and even down to the decor -- organic and magnificent. Thank you, everyone who contributed to my fabulous and phenomenal day. You know, I'll be back!
