My friends from high school and I go to a spa every year so that we can get together and reconnect. Gurneys is one of the spas that we revisited a number of times because of the surroundings. The spa is reletively newly renovated and is very calming. The salon where you get facials and mani/pedi overlook the ocean. The staff was very nice. They do not allow you to cancel a service for ANY reason without 24 hour notice. I fell asleep on a lounge chair on a cool day and didn't realize how strong the sun could be in April. My face go a bit sunburnt, and they would not allow me to to cancel my facial or even switch it to another day because the facialist was already on her way to work. I felt like the customer didn't come first...the worker did. Other spa's that I have been to would have happily made that change for me. We haven't been back since.

My friends and I, who call ourselves the Spa Girls, go to a spa every year to reconnect, relax, and get away from our everyday responsibilities and husbands. We have been to Norwich a number of times because they have some of the best packages out there. We are going again next month for the country retreat package, which includes breakfast, dinner afternoon tea and scones, and accomodations. the food is excellent (calorie count next to each item), and the people that work there could not be nicer. The indoor pool is very small, but there is a large hot tub in the locker room that makes up for that. The steam room and sauna are very small too. The gym is small, but has a few choice pieces of equiptment that will get the job done. I have to admit I have not taken a class there yet, but I am planning to take candlelight yoga when we go in April. Overall a great place to relax with your spa girls.
