My husband and I booked a couple's massage at Amethyst Garden Day Spa during our vacation in March 2010. We booked there due to to the incredibly positive reviews that existed on this site. Other reviews are correct that the staff are very, very nice. The spa itself is modest, but nice. However, that is where the compliments end. My husband and I were in the same treatment room, as expected, and I was scheduled for a hot stone massage while he was getting a deep tissue massage. We are both massage veterans and know what we like best. Our experience started off in an odd manner, in that, unlike any other spa we have ever visited, we were not covered by sheets. Instead we were each given a bath towel to drape over ourselves. It didn't even begin to cover either of us. Then the massages started. I don't know how to describe it other than it was if my therapist had never had professional training. At one point, I heard a loud rumbling next to me and I turned my head toward my husband. His massage therapist was using a machine on his back that looked like a high tech "thumper" massager. My massage was far more swedish than host stones, which were barely used. Then, my therapist decided to use the "thumper" machine on me. My initial impression was correct - the machine felt exactly like one of the machines you can get in any catalog, and that is completely unsatisfying to anyone who has had a professional massage. My husband and I compared notes and it seemed as thought we each had the same massage experience, even though we were supposed to have different treatments. We politely thanked them, and even tipped them when leaving, because we were honestly in a state of shock. I would NEVER go back there when we are in the area again. In fact, since the treatments we received we so unsatisfying, we tried to find another spa to work us in the next day. We ended up at a Massage Envy and had great, professional, massages.

I cannot say enough positive things about the spa at Ceiba Del Mar. It is so well done. Their spa menu is extensive, with the commonly expected services, as well as ones unique to them. The spa is lovely, with a beautiful lobby where they greet you prior to directing you to the locker rooms. Both the mens and womens locker rooms open into a "wet" area with hot and cold plunge pools and a sauna. Beyond those areas is a common quiet area where you can wait for your therapist and where you are served tea or water after your treatment. This area is shared by men and women, but time spent here is minimal. It is really quite lovely, as there are open-air sections with foliage and waterfalls. Very relaxing! I had two different massage treatments during my stay at the resort and both of them were first rate. My husband agreed that his treatments were among the best that he has ever received.

I have been to Complexions several times over the last couple years, both for massages and for pedicures. I have always been pleased with the services that I have gotten. The spa is nice, although very small, with a quiet room where you wait for your treatment. The therapists and nail technicians have all been professional and very good at what they do. The facilities are not as plush as at some day spas, but they are comfortable and clean.

I have been to Urban Euphoria several times over the last couple years, both for massages and for pedicures. I have always been thrilled with the services that I have gotten. The spa is very nice, with a quiet room where you are separated from the noise of the salon while you wait for your treatment. The therapists and nail technicians have all been very professional and are great at what they do.
