Waxing=great Hair cut=worst i've ever had. Massage=ok Nails=horrible June 15, 2011 | 56 of 116 people found this review helpful
I have very mixed reviews of this location. I have been to many Red Doors.
I used to come here for waxing when I lived close, and they were wonderful. A great quality wax. Quick, efficient waxist.
I also had my nails done- bad experience. I paid extra to have the exfoliating scrub. The woman was very nice, but literally applied the scrub, ran her hand up and down my leg ONCE, then washed it off. It was nothing even remotely close to an exfoliating pedi. The mani was rather messy as well.
The massage I had was ok. Nothing special, but no complaints.
Where do I begin with the haircut- I have long hair- about down to my elbow. I like to keep it rather natural and healthy. I had asked for just a trim. She cut it nearly up to MY SHOULDERS. It was also cut straight across rather than the requested layered cut. She also managed to cut her finger in the middle of it and have to get a band-aid. I was nearly in tears when I saw the final result! I called the manager and she refunded my money, but it took a very very long time to grow my hair back out. They seem to give everyone a very similar shoulder length cut- very common for the NoVa area.

Nails=Great June 15, 2011 | 48 of 99 people found this review helpful
I have been here many times. The nail services are great. The nail area is seporated from the main area and more relaxing. I also enjoyed the scented neck pillow that was offered. The manis and pedis last a long time there. They are very nice.
One thing that is not as great, but its just being picky- the girls at the front desk are very young and seem rather inexperienced. I feel almost like they put them at this location to train them before moving to a different one if they can make it!
The relaxation room here is large and enjoyable.
I always enjoy Red Door teas.

Is it just me or has red door gone down hill? June 15, 2011 | 63 of 119 people found this review helpful
I arrived as a walk-in for a pedicure. I was told that there was only time for a mini-pedi, which was just as expensive as other places' full pedicures, except they spend half the time on it. In need of a pedi, I agreed. I had never been to this specific location before, and nobody directed me to the nail area. A woman, who I quickly realized would be doing my nails, led me to the room- probably after noticing me looking around. She seemed rushed. The space between my neighbors and I was very small. The quick pedi was "meh." The same as a super cheap-o place. Not worth the price. I noticed that she got a lot of polish on my toes.After the pedicure I went to the makeup area, as I wanted to buy some new products. The woman who asked me to sit down to apply makeup was very nice, and I thought things would perk up. After she started talking to me about my makeup routine, a woman, who must have been a regular, came in, and started talking to the makeup woman. The woman turned her back to me, ignoring me, and about 5 minutes of waiting there, I decided to just pay and leave. Wouldn't go back.

Great Facial June 15, 2011 | 53 of 101 people found this review helpful
My husband and I had facials before our wedding. They were wonderful. It was very relaxing, and the women were definitely experienced. My husband had never had a facial, and the woman who did his made sure to explain to him what she was doing to help him be less nervous. She even threw in a collagen treatment for him after he mentioned it was for our wedding.
The relaxation room is a bit small, but that is completely understandable for an urban spa. The Willard is a great location, and it feels like something a bit special, versus just going into the front door of a regular spa.
I'd love to go back.
