Laurabella Health and Beauty Day Spa
Great for treatments, not like Champneys though! January 30, 2012 | 16 of 32 people found this review helpful
Just come back from Laurabella and through the lack of reviews, felt compelled to write. The treatments were great and executed with expertise. Laurabella is set next to a farm and is basically a house with treatment rooms, a hot tub outside (like a normal one rich people have) and a sauna in a wooden summer house. It worked fine but just to set the scene, it is not like a Champneys set up.
I had a Himalayan Salt scrub (gritty, well applied, smelt great), Body Wrap (smelt gross but apparently the worse they smell, the better they are) and a back massage. All the treatments were completed excellently but the "spa" is very deserted and it felt odd me and my bf were the only couple there. (We visitied on a weekday). Due to be extended, there is currently no pool and there are things that are a bit tired: towels, rugs etc. I would not visit again only because I am after the whole SPA experience with steam room, tepidarium, larconium etc. That said, treatments were not to be faulted.
Staff were friendly, welcoming etc but I felt self-conscious being the only couple and having been to PennyHill Park which was absolute luxury - this is a bit more low rent. U have to bring your own gowns / towels too.
I would visit this business again? No
