About Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo
Monaco's Hotel Metropole was initially built in 1889 in the center of Monte-Carlo, just steps from the world-famous Casino. An all-encompassing renovation in 2004 merged the classical belle époque style of the hotel's original construction with a contemporary Mediterranean aesthetic in keeping with the new look of Monte-Carlo. An alley of Roman Cyprus trees welcomes arriving guests, who enter the hotel through a boxwood arch involving more than 500 boxes. Inside, fabric-covered walls, Cordoba leather doors, and a glass-domed atrium set a lavish, cosmopolitan tone, while an ornate living room containing portraits of Monaco's princes pays tribute to the hotel's history.
The transformation of the property was complete with the addition of a 21,505-square-foot (2,000 square meters) luxury spa in April 2006. Created with the participation of famous spa-consulting company ESPA, the facility allows guests to book a block of time rather than choosing treatments; therapists customize the experience based on an in-depth consultation. An al fresco heated seawater pool is an additional attraction. After a session at the spa, guests can stroll along the harbor or in the property's Mediterranean-style garden, visit world-class boutiques, or tour Monaco's royal palace, which dates from the 13th century.
