I've had a pedicure, two manicures and one upper lip waxing at Halcyon. Tatiana has been my nail tech all times and does a wonderful job. A little rough when taking off the gel manicure, but other than that a great person and I would highly recommend her. My only concern is that on my last visit, she was very busy and thus ran behind by about 30 minutes. I didn't mind as I was escorted to the waiting room to sit and had my Nook Color with me for entertainment. My concern was that she didn't have sterilized instruments to work with and simply swished them around in the sanitizing fluid, dried them off and then used them on my nails. Really Halcyon, at the prices you charge, you should really have an autoclave to sanitize your instruments and have them waiting prior to each appointment. I put neosporin on my fingers when I got home just to try and ward off potential infection and have had to repeat it many times when my fingers become tender.

Okay, I was a hesitant to visit here after reading some bad reviews, but my experience was great! I had a facial which was very thorough, a wax which was over with in no time (the only way a bikini wax should be), and the most amazing massage I have EVER had... I mean, EVERRRRR. It's like the massage therapist could read my mind. No fluff and buff here, it was the real thing. I loved the staff I had and the spa is a little outdated, but it still looks pretty and clean. I think people on here exagerate way too much, b/c from what I experienced, this spa is highly recommended!

I visited Halcyon for a bikini wax. I arrived 5 minutes before I was scheduled and was taken right to the back by the technician. She began to wax me and asked for my help. I obliged. Her cell phone rings ALOUD and she TAKES THE CALL. She LEAVES me in the room, on the bed, spread eagle, for 10-15 minutes with wax hardening on my bikini line and waxing strips laying across the top of my leg. She then returns and begins RIPPING wax off my leg and bikini area. I am cringing and clearly in pain but she just keeps on waxing, ripping off the strips and seems to almost enjoy the amount of misery and pain she was putting me through. She made no apology for leaving me in the room to take a personal call, and wasn't very kind when I was clearly in a lot of pain. With tears streaming down my face, I reported her to the front desk and the young lady gave me half off. Awesome, thanks. I later received a call from the manager who said my card would be credited the full amount. THANK YOU. Needless to say, I didn't give my tech a tip and I'll never go back - or recommend - this spa to anyone, ever.

I've visited Halcyon Days for for nail care, pedis and waxing and will ONLY go back for waxing and ONLY as long as LAUREN is working there. The employees who greet you was you walk into the spa are not invited or even interested in good cusotmer service. The chairs in the mani/pedi room are old and outdated and there is a large turnover rate. If I wanted to have a different nail tech on every visit, I would not chose a spa....I have waited in their version of a waiting lounge for as long as 30 minutes for a schedule appointment with no explanation for the delay. On a happier note, Lauren does my bikini waxing and I will follow her to the far corners of the globe. She is professional, courteous and quick. She makes a very uncomfortable procedure much more relaxing..... 5 stars for Lauren, 2 stars for the rest of Halcyon Days.

ALEXA RUINED MY HAIR

I moved here from Atlanta and this place was reccomended to me by a co-worker so i called to book an appointment and asked who was available, the boy at the front desk who appeared to be 12 years old when i checked in that afternoon told me that several stylists were available but he reccomended Alexa above everyone else. She didnt listen to what i wanted, she fried my hair, was VERY rude to me the whole time and hurt me when she was putting my foils in. I told her that she was scratching my scalp with the comb and her response was "im almost done, suck it up" I complained to the receptionists about the price not matching the service and they said that alexa is the most expensive stylist here so im assuming thats why she was reccomended to me. I may try a different stylist next time, the others seemed to be much warmer and caring towards their customers. DO NOT GO TO THIS PERSON, she is the worst kind of hairdresser!

As a bride to be and wedding planner I think you should always take time away from the wedding planning and gather yourself and thoughts on the aftermath. My fiancee and I did just that as we enjoyed our pedi and medis together in the atomshpere of this wonderful spa. It offered us a chance of relaxation and conversation and it brought clarity into what we plan to do after saying I do. So for all the brides to be take it from me, this spa is what you and your fiancee need to fall back in love again.

Went to the spa to celebrate a 50th birthday with 3 friends. The birthday girl's husband booked the appt. after we couldn't get spa appointments at the resort we were staying at. We were scheduled to have mani/pedi's & facial. Appointment time was 12-2:00. We arrive a little before noon and were ushered into one room, where we all waited for 45 minutes. The birthday girl and 1 other person went to have their mani/pedi's. 2 of us waited another 20 minutes and decided to go to the mani pedi room to be with the birthday girl. An asian woman came in and I went with her to have my facial. After 25 minutes, she says I am finished! She cleaned my skin, toned, put a mask on, then massaged some cream on my arms, cleaned off the mask and didn't bother to even turn the light on to check my skin. As I came out of the room, I ran into my friend who also had a facial and went in 10 minutes after me and came out 5 minutes before me. Her facialist ask if she would like a micro derm. She said the woman was so rough she was afraid her skin would be in shreds. When we got out to the desk, I complained to the manager that if we were booking a mani/facial and a facial and our times were from 12-2, I would only assume that each would be an hour long. They said the husband booked "Classic". I have looked at their brochure and they don't have times listed so I guess they "choose" your times based on how busy they are!!!They were rude and the friend who had the micro derm was charged 110 dollars for 15 minutes. The other 2 ladies who had the mani/pedi's..said it wasn't good. I felt the spa was very dated and not as clean as it could be. I would avoid this place!!!!

Horrible pedicure

I had a gift card that I wanted to use, so I finally took 2 hours off to relax. The salon is run down, the basins were not clean. I had to request a new nail file. It would seem that a $55 dollar pedicure would actually include a nail file not used on 55 other people before me. My toenails were not done correctly, in fact, it looks like I need another pedicure. There was no lotion on my feet no message. Just some toenail polish. I probably could have done that at home.

After Christmas I found myself with a terrible head cold and congestion that I couldn't kick. I booked a 30 minute aromatherapy appointment and walked out feeling amazing. The therapist took her time understanding what I needed that day and what scents worked best for me. I can't wait to go back!

I am a huge fan of Anetta. She is the best aestetician in Birmingham. I've had facials, waxing and brow tints in L.A., New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Florida and she is simply awesome. She never stops learning and keeping up with what's going on in skincare. Her knowledge of products and their relative effectiveness is always impressive. She gives great advice on every skincare issue.Halcyon overall could use some remodeling and an overhaul of their merchandising displays. It would be good to see a slightly refreshed version of the spa. That said, it is a very soothing environment for this often frazzled girl.
