LED facial

Came for the LED facial. Mary the facialist was upfront and explained that the benefits were not immediate after just one time. She had a "soothing" persona which added to the relaxing experience.

I had won a gift certificate from an auction for spa finder and I'm so glad Body Design was one of the spas associated. Fist, it's not a "Day Spa" it's a beautiful fitness center with an ocean view and very nice staff that thankfully has a few rooms for facials, massages, tan treatments, waxing etc. I'm a fan because I liked being able to use the gym before my treatments. They have a room to shower and change and a lot of good spa products you can buy on the way out! I recomend this place to anyone who is looking for quality treatments, facials and massages especially!

I recently had a massage and facial at Body Design and I felt both therapists were excellent. The massage therapist seemed really interested in helping to correct some neck and shoulder issues I have been having and gave me some great tips to do at home. I have actually felt better ever since. The facialist was very informative and explained to me why I continue to have some stubborn acne and hyperpigmentation. I have seen the product line she uses at to other well known spas, (The St Regis & The Four Seasons Beverly Hills) and it turns aout she is an esthetic trainer. She really seems to know her stuff and the facial was wonderful. I saw some hi-tech equipment there that she explained was LED and micro-current technology for corrective treatments. I am going to try that next time for sure. This is a wellenss center focusing on fitness and therapy so don't expect hot tubs and lounges but the price is right if you are more interested in expertise.

Violated by Groping Masseuse
By spafinder2 | June 20, 2009

True the male masseuse got out my knots for the hour but I felt that his hands were groping my "behind" inappropriately (I am a female). To this day I have unpleasant memories of the experience and I don't want future customers feeling violated as well. The venue is primarily a sports gym with a small room set up in the back with a massage table inside. No lounges or showers for relaxation, just a walk-in and walk-out place for a quick service.

Response from Body Design

We only have one male massage therapist and he has been working with us for over ten years. During this time he has built a loyal and appreciative clientele. Since this is the first such complaint we have had in regards to this therapist, we regret that this client did not report it directly to us at the time so that it could be addressed with her. This therapist specializes in deep tissue and sports therapy massage which involves using a lot of trigger points which are sometimes located in the gluteals. To the uninitiated, this type of bodywork might be mis-interpreted, however, if there were complaints of lower back, hip or leg pain it would have been completely appropriate to work in the gluteal area. Since we are a wellness center specializing in sports rehabilitation with physical therapists who routinely work on these areas of the body, we tend to view this as an expected aspect of therapy. In the future all of our massage and bodywork staff (male and female) will be instructed to communicate with our guests more thoroughly as to their comfort level with having bodywork. We would also like to extend our most sincere apology to this guest and ask that she accept our offer of a return visit for a massage or facial with one of our expert female therapists. We truly want every client who comes in to have a positive experience and to know that are receiving expert care. Sincerely, Body Design
