A beautiful getaway with my spouse
I visted the Grail Springs for a weekend retreat in January of 2014 with my husband and loved it. There is something very down to earth yet still sophisticated about it. When we arrived it reminded me of a medieval castle. The meditation retreat was informative and I think it made an impression on my husband as he has since begun to practice daily meditation. The food was fabulous, and they were very accomidating of our vegan diet. The guided hike was beautiful and we loved going in the outdoor hot tub at night even though it was winter. We will be back for sure!

Heaven on Earth
I was both an attendee and speaker at The Grail Lady Faire women's retreat at Grail Springs a few weeks ago. I am still feeling the healing energy that accompanied me when I came back to the Philadelphia area 5 days after setting foot on the grounds of what truly feels like Heaven on Earth. What most moved me was the overall essence of peace that permeated the grounds, that extended to every encounter with the welcoming staff, the lovingly prepared vegetarian cuisine, the beautifully decorated room with the deep soaking tub in which I indulged a need for physical and emotional rejuvenation, the pampering spa treatment I received in the form of a mud bath and massage. Chalice Lake in which we swam daily has a healing quality to it.. As someone who has been fascinated with the legend of the Holy Grail, I was impressed with the thematic decor that presented as genuine and not 'cartoonish', harkening in many ways to Camelot. Grail Springs is the ideal place to visit to nourish body and soul. It was well worth the nearly 9 hour drive and I will be returning. This magnificent creation is a tribute to the love and dedication that director Madeleine Marentette and her staff infuse into all aspects. Sheer magic.

A Fabulous Detox Spa
Went to the Grail in October '09 to detox from extended Chemotherapy and had a most amazing time. It's more that just a spa, it's a full body and mind experience. Do not expect to gorge yourself on typical hotel food. This is a ph balanced diet that is mostly vegetarian and organic. It was a way that I've never eaten before and have brought many of the recipes and food logic home to my family. We now eat better because of my time there. Chef Melissa was amazing and wonderful and just so easy to learn from. Loved her. The rooms were amazing, the bathrooms all have soaker tubs. Very very luxurious, and I even bought a robe to take home with me because I loved them so much. The grounds were conducive to lots of hiking in the woods, horseback riding and swimming (if the weather had been warmer. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna and had a chilly dip in the lake. As well there's the famous labyrinth, walk it when the mood strikes you and you may learn even more about yourself. The spa treatments were abundant and lovely. I even tried the famous Mineral Wrap that guarantees you'll lose 10 in, I lost 19.5! I got so used to being pampered and scrubbed and lotioned and polished in my 5 day stay that I had a bit of a withdrawl when I got home. I really cannot say enough good things. It was not just a spa, it was really an emotional journey for me. I can't wait to go back!

Facilities & Amenities

Facilities & Amenities

A typical morning at Grail Springs begins with an invigorating cardio workout in the 400-square-foot fitness center, followed by a healthy breakfast and six-minute mantra practice. Yoga, held once a day and twice during peak season, or Pilates sessions follow. Afternoons are filled with activities designed to connect with nature, such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and horseback riding and hiking the rest of the year. Spare time can be spent with a brisk dip in the hot and cold plunge pools or a more-contemplative meditation session. Evening activities include lifestyle and wellness lectures, and once a week there is candlelit yoga.

In addition, private nutrition, meditation, life coaching, and spiritual guidance seminars are available (additional fees may apply). Outings include canoeing, swimming, and lakeside campfires, and the historic Algonquin Park, the oldest provincial park in Canada, is within easy reach.

Rooms & Dining

Rooms & Dining

The boutique-style wellness retreat houses 13 rooms. Country-style guest rooms, located near the great hall and dining room, are designed with floral and striped wallpaper and empire beds, and some overlook the lake and garden. An elegant, subtle European vibe can be found throughout accommodations close to the fitness and spa facilities, with Renaissance-style architecture, four-poster beds, and Belgium-imported draperies and pillows. Propane fireplaces and balconies look out onto the lake, moat, or gardens, and bathrooms come complete with deep-soaking tubs. Amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, TVs, CD players, in-room kettles with herbal teas, and Himalayan bath salts create a welcome respite.

Grail Springs serves a strictly vegetarian menu, prepared with an emphasis on organic ingredients and devoid of meat, white sugar, white flour, dairy, and caffeine, for a pH-balanced diet. Meals include nutritious tonics and elixirs, fresh juices, and teas and are taken in the fireside dining room, overlooking the picturesque lake.
