The Best Spa will be missed!!By Sandyj | September 22, 2010

I have been visiting the Spa Downtown faithfully since they opened over 7 years ago. In August of 2010, like many other spas, sadly they had to close their doors. A sad sign of the times. I loved to embrace the beauty, talents and professionalism that they offered. Since they closed, the same location is now occupied by many of the same talented therapists, which they have explained to me that they are now working independently. As I enjoyed a relaxing pedicure and massage, I could sense the transition but am pleased that I will still have a peaceful oasis to retreat to when I need. Im sure it will take a little time for them to settle into their new positions, but I still received excellent service. I read the previous review and couldnt help but to bring facts to the situation. The Spa Downtown minimized their website and kept their phone number in hopes that the practitioners that now occupy the house will have an opportunity to embrace the clients that came to know and love The Spa Downtown. It will be missed, but with every door that closes..a new one opens. I hope you find this helpful.

Years of TreatmentBy NicoleM | September 15, 2010

I am sad to say I will no longer be visiting The Spa Downtown for my spa services. Our family have been clients for many years, nearly any and every occasion we all celebrated with treatments; Mother, Grandmother, Friends, Husband and Myself. Which leads me to my point. They have yet to be truly "friendly" each time. I feel the owners act superior to their clients, and many times I felt the sense of them being "bothered" to answer questions or even to swipe your card! You would think after years of loyalty and thousands of dollars they would at least acknowledge you politely. Anyway, I have realized what behind the times they are...they need an update!! Their web site contains a phone number, address and some pictures....yep that's it....No service menu or any service information. With all the options out there I will be looking into a new facility! Sorry Spa Downtown, you're cute, but cute just doesn't cut it in this society!! We need information, web accessibility, and most of all WELCOMING service! Too bad.....

I have been to the spa downtown several times and everytime is better than the last. The staff is gracious and friendly. They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and accomodating. The massage I received was wonderful and very relaxing. I also received a great spa pedicure.

More tense AFTER the massageBy MaryL | March 6, 2010

I booked this massage over a week in advance at a later hour than normal--apparently. The spa was closing (5 pm) and the therapist let me know that his girlfriend had to wait for him since he had to do this massage. I also learned his life story since he NEVER shut up the entire time. If I tried to relax, he would ask questions to keep the conversation going. This was the weirdest and most tense "spa" treatment I have ever had. I also got the bum's rush out the door after. What a lousy experience. The owner offered another massage with a different therapist, but said he was one of the best she had--Really, NO thanks. My nerves can't take it.

This sap is located in a beautiful older home in downtown. Walking in there is pleanty to enjoy asthetically. I have visited this spa several times for both massages and facials. While the treatments were okay, I didn't walk away feeling completely relaxed or refershed as I had hoped. I may go back, but only if my favorite place down the road is booked.

I have been to this spa a number of times and have never heard or seen a baby. I'm not saying that the previous reviewer is lying, just that the baby is rarely there because I have never seen it. I've received a number of different services from this spa including manicures, pedicures and facials. All services were awesome with professional staff. The facials at this spa rival those I used to get when living in Santa Clara. This spa is something that Redding needed and the rail road tracks across the street are hardly noticable at all. They offer you tea or cold water and have complimentary snacks while you wait (a definate plus for a pregnant girl!) This is only spa in town that I go to...it's wonderful!

While being massaged in the very back room of this converted old house - a baby began to cry,,,,and cry,,,,and CRY! I finally stopped my therapist and asked if the baby was inside the spa or was it coming from outside? She said - and I quote - "Well, uhhhh, that would be the OWNER'S baby up in the front room of the spa!" I am NOT kidding you - this baby cried SO much that my milk wanted to come down & I haven't even breastfed in 8 yrs! Once done w/my services, I peeked into this room, that didn't have a door, but rather a curtain on it, and what do you think I saw???? I baby crib, johnny walker & lots of TOYS! IN A DAY SPA????? I was in disbelief. The owner (mother) was indignant & gave a less than 1/2 hearted apology. Duh - get a clue lady - babies don't belong in a spa. I paid $200 for my services to RELAX & rejuvenate after a hectic week @ work - NOT to hear a baby cry & coo for 3 hrs. I will NEVER return & TELL EVERYONE NOT TO GO TO THE SPA DOWNTOWN. I failed to mention the very busy & often NOISY railroad station directly across the street. Don't come here if you're looking form some R&R ladies.
