Most Relaxing Expreience!

Spent a rainy spa weekend with my girlfriend at this resort which is driving distance to Woodstock and Saugerties. Plenty to do and see. We stayed in the lodge at the resort which was like having your own private log cabin complete with a covered porch and king size room and bathroom. The staff was exceptional. The spa area was clean, friendly, and we enjoyed the most wonderful massage and foot reflexology. Can't wait to go back!

Wonderful Facials

I live within a half hour of this spa so I haven't stayed there and enjoyed all of the amenities, but I go for facials every few months. The facilities are clean and luxurious. I've never been kept waiting more that 5 minutes, even when I've been late to an appointment. I've been very satisfied with my treatments. I usually get a facial for acne prone skin and have extractions done. Of course, my skin will be red for a day or two, but afterwards, my skin will be clear for at least three weeks- totally worth it.

Aromatherapy

I got the aromatherapy massage and it was just lovely. They let me choose which type of scent I preferred and each scent had a different benefit to you. At the end of the massage they were waiting with a cold glass of water and asked how everything was and what she noticed about specific parts of my body that she thought needed more attention than others. After the massage, it was great and even more relaxing to spend some time in the sauna. Made the experience really wonderful. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I recently was divorced and needed a quick getaway to reconnect my mind, body and soul. This was a 2 1/2 hour drive and was a wonderful restorative weekend. My best friend and I stayed in the Inn...was perfect. The fireplace in the room, the private balcony and the service at the Inn was wonderful. The spa was very nice with great treatments and I felt that the staff was caring, well trained and understood that they are also therapists in a way. I have spent a number of long weekends at Miraval in Arizona. Although this can't compare, it was a great much less expensive alternative to the most perfect spa in the US. The only disappointment was that there was no other place for dinner than Catamount! The Phoenix should have been open for lunch and dinner as there is very little that is good that is in the area. I will go back though!

Relaxing Experience

My husband and I went to the Emerson for the second time this past week and it is a wonderfully relaxing place to visit for an afternoon. He had an aromatherapy massage and I had the Emerson signature massage which I highly recommend. We both also had body scrubs before the massages and pedicures afterwards which were very soothing and worth the trip to the resort which is a little bit off the beaten track. It is not the most luxurious spa I have ever been to but the services provided are consistently good. The pool is a bit of a walk from the spa itself so plan to take a stroll of about five minutes if you wish to use the pool.

Exotic tranquility close to New York City

I found the Emerson Resort and Spa to be just magical! I booked my appointments thru SpaFinder's special 50.00 treatment week and spent the day in a tasteful environment surrounded by Asian antiquities and tranquil music. The services were among the best I have experienced (massage, facial, mani-pedi) and the support staff was pleasant and helpful. Shopping at the stores in the complex was a nice surprise as the merchandise was unusual and interesting (with a few great end-of-season sales!) Later, I met friends for dinner at the Phoenix and the menu was appropriate to the elegant, healthful day I had just spent. I am looking forward to coming back here for an anniversary weekend with my husband this summer so we can enjoy the outside grounds and pool.

OUTSTANDING!

After reading some of the other reviews, my husband and I were aprehensive about picking this one for our anniversary getaway. Well, we were so glad that we went. First, the hotel, the rooms, the spa, and all of the other facilities were simply beautiful and so well maintained. We each had 3 spa treatments and they were outstanding. This is coming from someone who frequents spas. I cannot explain why others gave it such poor reviews, perhaps they have hired new help since then but, out experience was amazing. We especially liked that it was a relaxed casual atmosphere around the hotel and we didn't feel we had to be dressed up and fancy but, were able to experience a truely pampering spa. July 2009

I am a Physical Therapist and a licensed massage therapist for 15 years now. I know a liitle bit about this stuff. I have to say beyond the rude and arrogant receptionist, the services here are amature at best. For someone who does not have alot of experience with this type of service you might think its great but let me inform you, it's not! You can do so much better for less money. Cranwell and New age spa's are so much better if you live in the northeast. They don't charge a fortune for their rooms. There staff are highly experienced professionals that really know how to take care of there customers. And make sure you know you are not going to cancel because they charge a $30 dollar cancellation fee with in 30 days...thats absurd! Huge thumbs down for me, will never return or recommend.

I scheduled two teatments at this spa. Everything was well laid out, with the goal of relaxation in mind. It's not a sumptious as some overpriced spas I have been in, but the decor and facilities were well kept and well worth the price. The additional use of the hotel fitness facilites made it a great value. The staff were all very courteous and the aesthetician and massage therapist were both especially welcoming, solicitous and very good. I booked everything through SpaFinder.com, so the booking receipt e-mail through to appointment confimation e-mail went without a hitch. I would definitely go back again when I am in the area.

Ladies weekend

I felt compelled to write because before visiting I had seen mixed reviews about the Emerson. I went with 8 friends from high school to celebrate our 50th birthdays and this place was perfect. We stayed in the more rustic lodge which was a perfect place to schlep coolers of drinks and food - they had a separate room (the Catamount?) where we could serve ourselves dinner Friday night. On Saturday we all used the fitness room which was sufficient and then spent the rest of our day in luxurious robes having wonderful spa treatments. My friends particularly raved about their massages from Tike(?) The service from the minute I called for reservations until we checked out was extremely attentive. Dinner at the Phoenix Saturday night was superb and we loved our waiter Luis! We even had fun in our down time exploring the expansive store(s) - it was a perfect reunion weekend with my friends. I can't wait to go back with my husband and stay in the more luxurious inn!

We Won't Go - Key Word "Hospitality"
By PaulWB | September 6, 2007

We (wife and I) were excited to hear of a nice spa facility in the Woodstock NY area. Unfortunately the reservations call itself was too stressful to consider actually visiting the property. Nothing pleasant or welcoming in the voice of the person answering - "We're very busy here, we speak to hundreds of people a day" (duh - isn't that your JOB). Reservations and cancellation policy is offensive (read the fine print on the website - 10% penalty when you cancel WITHIN 30 days). The place may be nice when you get there and popular enough to allow that restrictive reservations policy, but there's no excuse for an arrogant reservations staff that implies they don't need or want our business. All other destination spas we've visited (many, worldwide) greet and treat warmly, we'll stick with them.

A restful retreat

I spent 3 nights at the Inn on a Mother/ Daughter girls getaway mini vacation. It was very relaxing, and pleasant. The food was perfect, creative and delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive. The spa treatments were excellent. The ambience was elegant and tranquil. My only negative comments were that the indoor resistance pool is not built, or up and running, yet it is a part of their brochure. ANd the outdoor pool is old, and part of the rustic lodge area, not near the new, more luxurious Inn. There are no bathroom facilities close to the pool. Other than that, it was quite a lovely time. and the staff was very pleasant.

Disappointing and unprofessional
By ScottNYC | July 5, 2007

Despite seeming to have lavished all sorts of money on their facilities, this is still a poorly run, unprofessional spa... starting with the fact that they often just don't answer the phone (or return messages). It was such a disappointment to find that the staff's lax attitude did not live up to either the facilities or the prices. There are far better options in the area at cheaper prices.
