About Ojai Valley Inn & Spa

The whitewashed buildings of the Spanish Mission-style Ojai Valley Inn & Spa stand out against the property's green grounds, a dazzling stretch of 220 tree-filled acres. Mexican tiles and blooming gardens add warmth to the historic property, which opened in 1923. Three swimming pools and several picturesque terraces provide relaxing outdoor environments for guests, and the refined interiors add a tasteful touch. Spa Ojai, located on the resort grounds, offers dozens of treatments and boasts two swimming pools and a health-conscious cafe. Other dining options include a pub and fresh California fare at the signature restaurant Maravilla.

Some of California's loveliest vineyards are a short drive away from the Inn, and a limousine tour of the area can provide more than an afternoon's worth of distraction. A championship golf course is at the resort, as is a full-service golf academy. For younger guests, enrollment in Camp Ojai can provide a good blend of fun and education, including daily visits to the Ranch's animal farm.

The design of the 31,000-square-foot Spa Ojai reflects the feel of the resort: Mexican tile and artwork decorate the public spaces as well as the 35 treatment rooms, some of which come fit with glowing fireplaces. Outside of the spa are sunbathing areas and a special penthouse with a whirlpools and fireplaces. There are three pools on the site, two of which are located at the spa village and are for adults only.

One of the most popular items on the menu is Kuyam, a mud treatment that nourishes the psyche as well as the body. In the hot kuyam chamber, up to eight participants share memories and meditate while healing clays soak impurities from the skin. The spa, which sells products such as Carita and Decleor at its boutique, also offers dozens of individual treatments for the face, skin, and body. A full-service fitness center is available to spa-goers, and daily fitness classes, power walks, and nature hikes are also offered. For a change of pace, enrichment classes in oil painting or wreath-making take place in the Artist's Cottage.

    Rooms & Dining

The inn's plentiful windows give way to unsurpassed views of the property, and some rooms and suites have balconies or terraces as well. Within the airy interiors, rooms offer Ojai nest bedding, spa amenities, and, in some suites, a fireplace. The 308 rooms, which include 75 suites, range in size and style from standard luxury to a suite with Spanish fireplaces in the bedroom and living room. For the utmost luxury, four-bedroom-penthouse suites are located atop Spa Ojai, which are just steps from hot tubs and outdoor fireplaces.

In the spa's courtyard is Cafe at the Spa, a casual restaurant serving light lunch fare indoors and out. Another midday option is Jimmy's Pub; and for the swimsuit clad, the Swim Club-a poolside dining spot serving burgers and snacks-is open April through November. For fine dining, most guests reserve a table at Maravilla, the resort's signature restaurant, which delivers fresh California cuisine in an elegant dining room. For all-day dining, guests can enjoy the Oak Cafe, a restaurant serving fresh creations morning, noon, and night.

This "deal" is no deal! If you go to their website the Topa Topa package is already $260. However, the services and spa are excellent!

My recent visit to this Spa was amazing, the warm welcome from the front desk staff set the tone for a perfect relaxing experence. I had a 100 min massage which was rejuvenating and I was in heaven for the entire time, I had lunch in the Spa Cafe which had many healthy choices and first class service. Then relaxed around a beauitful pool getting some sun in a quiet tranquil setting and then returned inside for my Hydrofacial which is a new machine they have which I encourage all to try it out.I will be back very soon, go try this amazing Spa.

OMG......what a hidden gem!Being spa junkies at heart we are constantly looking for unique places for our annual girl's weekend getaway. We hit the jackpot with this one!Wanting to avoid expensive flights, a friend recommended Ojai which fortunately is driving distance from our homes. The spa and the overall resort was truly amazing! The resort staff, especially the spa workers were so helpful & accommodating. They managed to arrange our treatments (massages & facials) at the same time which is usually impossible at other places with four people......so convenient. We all floated out of the spa raving about both services. We are so impressed by this spa & resort that we've managed to convince our spouses (golf junkies) to take another trip there early next.Don't look anywhere else......this is a real find!

We frequent spas throughout the world...but coming back home to our local resort is still quite a treat. The grounds are impeccable and to savor the full enjoyment one should plan at least a 1/2 day. Take the time to enjoy the common areas, sit by the pool and pamper yourself. This is a great couples retreat as well. The prices are comparative to any destination resort but you get so much more value when you take in the full experience of the valley views and sitting spots on the property.Only real complaint I would have is the resort management needs to be mindful of the subliminal messages given to the patronage of the local residents. It is really frustrating and makes one stop and think when you BLACKOUT whole holiday periods for the spa and dining options to only hotel guests. Why not staff appropriately and include your bread and butter regulars or group bookings during these times?

This was the best experience I have ever had, the facility and service was outstanding, very friendly and welcoming. I had two treatments which was very affordable compared with other Spas I've been to lately. You would be missing out on an experience if you don't make the effort to visit, also the resorts setting and service was outstanding too.I'll be back and it will be soon, thanks.

Went with husband on business trip. I felt that the treatments were like any other. They did not have anyone available to do lymph. Anthing "extra" was a charge. Even with the small discount they offered that day it was still very very expensive. There are just too many other options in socal that I would prefer to try before returning to this spa.

    1. Reservation Desk: When I called to reserve the penthouse 4-bedroom suite atop the Spa, I was told that suite was already booked & unavailable. Upon arrival I learned the entire SPA was closed, therefore the suite was not available to ANYONE. 2. A few weeks later in November I called to arrange Kuyam, the most popular spa treatment, for our group. I was that service was not available. Never was I told the truth: the entire spa village is CLOSED for renovations for months!!! 3. Makeshift SPA: No steam room, lockers, spa cafe. The treatments were conducted in regular guest rooms.4. Makeshift Fitness Room: only 4 exercise equipment in a regular guest room. No showers nor lockers. 5. Restaurant: Entire menu items had too much salt. For a spa resort, not acceptable. 6. When I checked out, I was invoiced $480.00 for one massage treatment, not the $280.00. They had incorrectly added another guest's service onto my room charge. Unbelievable. Then, I spent days trying to correct it only to be told they would not credit my account until they could get the $200 back from the other guest. BOTTOM LINE: Horrific experience from the unresponsiveness & deception by the Resort Management to poor employee training.

We made our reservation for our yearly Spa retreat in November and were never informed that the spa would be CLOSED for major renovations during our January visit. So seven haggard Moms who once a year get to escape to a spa were robbed of the whole spa experience. The services were very limited and done in regular rooms for eh makeshift "spa." There were no amenities (quiet room, steam, etc.) and the front desk spa staff was uninformed and badly trained. She messed up my appointment time even though I called her 20 minutes before to confirm! The therapists themselves were very good, they get 4 stars. What made all of it worse was that staff and management had a real "I don't care" attitude. Simple courtesy, a discount on the limited services we did manage to get, or a discount on the $1200 room would have changed our experience and we would return to the new spa! But now none of us want to return ever, and will share this bad experience with others so they can spend their dollars elsewhere.
