My neck and shoulders were killing me from bad night sleep. I woke up this morning unable to move my head or neck much at all and called up the spa in desperation for last minute appointment. My body immediately relaxed during and after the massage with Karil and through the day I felt the tension releasing and my muscles softening. Now only a few hours later I feel like I never had a problem to begin with. This was an excellent experience and I look forward to going back.

UNCOMFORTABLE SPA with poor managementBy sr | December 16, 2012
I can only warn you to AVOID THIS "SPA" at all costs. My good friend gifted me a spa package based on what he read from Google reviews. Sadly, my whole experience was UN-RELAXING and UNPLEASANT. First of all, the staff wasn't friendly or professional. I had scheduled my appointment, and when I arrived the staff didn't know what type of treatments I was receiving based on my packaged gift. I had to explain it to them. I had a body scrub, a massage and a facial, all of which were UNCOMFORTABLE and MESSY. The staff didn't communicate well and was very aggressive and harsh during all the treatments. The whole time I was so uneasy, I couldn't wait for the treatments to be over. To top off a DISAPPOINTING experience, I left the building to look in the mirror and find the staff didn't clean all the facial cleanser off my face. My friend, who gifted me the spa package was so upset at my experience, he called the spa to speak with the owner and discuss a form of reimbursement. After multiple calls, we were never able to get through to the owner. The staff always claimed she wasn't in the spa, but they did get a hold of her to confirm that they can not refund us in any way. You've been warned.

Metamorphosis Day Spa is the best spa in NYC! I've been going there for years! I've had their body treatments, facials, and massages. The services they offer are tremendous, but it's the expertise of their staff who perform these services that make this spa number one in my book! The best facials and massages I have ever gotten are at this place! Oh, and the ambiance - so welcoming, so tranquil, so relaxing, so laid back. Your mind, body and spirit will be transformed!

I had been going to Metamorphosis since 2006 and usually had decent service. I called up recently to ask for an appt when I saw a special with a new facial (90min). I was given an appointment that night so I rushed over. I was given another cheaper facial that was only 60 min...They acted like they confused the names but when I asked at beginning what was the difference, Marcy could've confirmed what she thought I ordered (instead she dodged question). Owner came out as I got angry saying I had been cheated. Offered me a gift certificate, which later find out is for the cheaper short facial (not the special one that was longer and had other features and add-ons included) which is why I went to the spa that night to get. I wrote a similar review on a NYC page and they deleted it -chicken The manager didn't return my call. I've already stopped two friends from going. You don't rip off customers and you don't make customers feel like they were cheated, especially regular customers. And, frankly when I look back, Marcy only went thru the motions of this facial, nothing special, so I'd avoid going to her. I also broke out the day after. Not going back. They lost a regular customer with this episode.

My skin was super dry from having gone on a vacation where I was in the sun and surf all day for a week. Not to mention all that sunscreen I slathered onto my face! So I went to Metamorphosis and got an exfoliating facial, just what my face desperately needed! My skin felt instantly fresher when I left, like there was a glow to it! The technician also advised me on some good moisturizers with spf.

The first time I went to metamorphosis spa, I received a gift certificate from a friend for the swedish massage. I had Liz as my masseuse and she was excellent. Knew what she was doing and where to massage me. Told me afterwards that i was a bit more tense and muscular on the left side (which is true since I am a left handed tennis player and I always carry bags on the left). I have tried other spas and I believe this spa is overall is the best bet for the price. I liked them so much that I booked a couples massage for my boyfriends 35th birthday. They were (like before) veyr easy to book with. The staff is amazing. Very nice and accomodating. I asked for Liz again and my bf had Jess as his masseuse. He generally doesnt like massages but he definitely enjoyed his. Thanks again, I (and the bf) will be back soon :)

I purchased a gift certificate to this spa. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to use it before the expiration date. I called 2 weeks in advance to discuss this with the staff. They told me they were unable to make an exception and I had no other choice but to let it expire without use. I asked only for a one week extension. The certificate clearly states Expriation is the responsibility of the "Merchant". Their unwillingness to work with a customer earned this poor review.

I have gone to this spa for hot stone massages for the last 3 years. I always walk away very relaxed and with a lot less knots than when I walked in. That last two massages were with Elizabeth and she is amazing! She did a quick assessment of my problem areas and focused on those areas. She also asked questions during the session to make sure I was ok with the heat/pressure. At the end of the massage she gave me a lot of useful everyday tips too. I will go back and request Elizabeth for my next massage again. I highly recommend her and their hot stone massage for a very relaxing experience!!

I've had massages and facials here and both services have been great. It's a small intimate spa, and very peaceful. The facial hurt (I was going through a major breakout) but the esthetician was trying to be as gentle as possible, explaining the steps/scrubs/masks she was using. I really like this place.

My first visit to this Spa and it was awesome from the minute I walked in. From the staff to my massage was awesome and refreshing. I have been to other Spas and the massages were done half way and nothing like the massage person she really worked my areas I told her to work on more and it was so out of this world. My facial (clean as whistle) was great. Walked in with a face of needed work and left the Spa looking awesome and with a Glow. I am already planning my other appointment to go in with my boyfriend this time. I will recommend everyone to at least try it once. Beautiful place and environment and the staff excellent.

My job sent me to this spa for a day of rest. I did the Sampler Package where you receive a 25-minute swedish massage, mini facial, "Playing Footsie" foot massage and "Head Trip" Scalp massage. Except for the "Playing Footsie" massage everything was great. I would have rather have gottem more of the swedish massage. I felt like I got a better foot massage when getting a pedicure.However I would go back to this spa and have even told people about it. The service was excellent and I even bought some of their products.

I've visited many spas in NYC and have found Metamorphosis to be the best. It's small but atmosphere is so relaxing and calming. Everyone from the receptionist to the cleaning staff is pleasant and makes you feel comfortable. I fall asleep everytime I go and feel so relaxed when I leave. I can't say that about any other spa I've visited in NY.

I had a facial and a massage this weekend at Metamorphosis and had an excellent experience. Although the spa is small, the services were excellent and the facilities were very clean. Ambience was great! If you are looking for a large spa where you get all the additional pampering, this is not the place. But the staff are very friendly, do a great job, and for the price - it's perfect. I would defiinitely return and I even might do so in the next week or so!

My husband booked this spa based on the reviews of previous members and boy were we shocked when we arrived. This is NOT a spa, more like a converted 2 bedroom in mid-town Manhattan. There is no locker room to change, no showers/steam room, no towels, and no robes/slippers. The waiting room has old furniture and self service tea which you have to plug in the kettle to make yourself a cup and water from a plastic pitcher with paper cups. My husband's massage was less then average and my facial was lack luster. This was not worth the money that we paid and we felt so mislead by the website and reviews.

I've been to Metamorphisis Day Spa several times this year already. This time I took advantage of the "Early Bird Special" - I got a free "Sweet Escape" body scrub when I booked my facial. Both services were great. It was the first time I got a scrub and it was pretty nice - my skin was left with a nice glow and very smooth!
Afterwards I had my facial, which as always, was amazing! =D Kira is just fantastic and so professional.

My Euorpean facial was wonderful and several different treatments were used which I had never experienced before (a brush and a white electronic instrument).
My only complaint would be that my warming gloves did not work properly and the room I was in was extremely loud and not relaxing (I could hear cars honking and sirens).
The treatment itself was good - I usually go to Mario Badescu but I feel that Metamorphosis was worth another shot.

Low key environment, no frills, SMALL but very clean. Staff is extremely professional. Every time, I've had someone different and still notice a huge difference after every facial. I ask for a lot of extractions and the high frequency and they make it happen without charging extra. I wouldn't go for a couple's massage or to spend the day with a friend, this is more of a solitary place. Highly recommend.

Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. Booked 3 appointments for a Saturday afternoon - very easy, quite welcoming. The staff seemed to enjoy that we were celebrating.
The "Spa" itself is on an upper floor of an office building. People have commented that is like a doctor's office, but for me - that's what I want for a facial - amazingly clean, crisp, and quiet.
You have a private room, it isn't huge, but you are lying down.
I had a 60 minute customized facial for my sensative skin. Included a scalp and hand massage and two masks for $100.
I left glowing and totally relaxed.
If you want a quiet, good facial at a good price - this is your place.

I went to metamorphosis spa for the first time last week because I really needed a deep tissue massage. I have some really bad knots in my back and I can never seem to find a masseuse who will really work my knots. When I got Liz as my massage therapist, I knew right away I was in good hands (hehe). She was uh-mazing. I told her exactly where it hurt and she made sure to do something about it. She even used hot stones to relieve my back even though my massage technically did not include that technique. All in all I would say that my experience was great although I owe most of it to Liz.

When I entered the spa, I was greeted by a very friendly, helpful receptionist. I found the spa to feel very calming and welcoming. The deep-pore cleansing facial I had was fabulous - very relaxing but also very professional. I have had many facial treatments before, but I have never had so many comments on how fresh and healthy my skin looked as after my treatment at Metamorphosis. Very Disappointing "Spa" ExperienceBy Yana07 | August 31, 2007
I went to Metamorphosis on Friday after a long week at work and was entirely disappointed by the experience. There was nothing "spa" like about Metamorphosis and the amenities were awful. There was no changing room, relaxation room or shower. The waiting room is tiny, cramped, hot and the furniture is dilapidated. You change in the small room where you're going to have your treatment, and the "spa" doesn't even provide a suitable place to keep your clothes/bags. The bathroom is awful, with a plastic makeshift bidet attached to it. The bathroom also failed to contain any facial products or means by which to remove make up. One would think that since they don't provide you with anything to remove your own make-up, that the therapist would properly remove it. However, when my facial was over I still had mascara on my eyelashes and face. The facial was mediocre. Admittedly, I needed a good extraction, so I got the Clean as a Whistle facial. When the facial was over and I was getting dressed in the small room, I happened to look in the small mirror, and see that I was in fact not "clean as a whistle." I had to wait 45 minutes for my treatment despite the fact that I got there early, and the facial did not last the full hour as indicated upon their website. There are nicer spas (true spas) in the City that are comparable in price, but significantly nicer! I definitely will not be going back.
