The Essex Resort & Spa is an AAA Four-Diamond property situated on 18 acres in the town of Essex, a few miles from Burlington, Vermont. Located within a short distance between the Green Mountains and Lake Champlain, the New England setting offers a four-season backdrop for a variety of outdoor pursuits. Indoors, guests can engage in offerings including culinary classes in the resort's two theater kitchens, revitalizing treatments at the full-service spa, or invigorating workouts at the fitness center. This family friendly (and pet friendly) resort caters to the little ones as well, with organized programs for children ages 8 to 12 years.
Multiple meeting rooms can accommodate up to 400, and stunning wedding venues range from a garden-view atrium to an expansive lawn to a trio of salons.

Spa-goers will become inspired by the 27,000-square-foot spa, where a design palette of wood and natural stone design evokes the natural beauty and serenity of picturesque Vermont. Housed in its own standalone building on the resort's grounds, the spa has 10 treatment rooms, as well as a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and separate men's and women's locker rooms with shower fixtures.
A wide range of product brands are used and include Skin Authority, Epicuren, Davines, and Aromafloria. Couples, mother-daughter groups, and friends can enjoy side-by-side services like tailored massage, facials, and soaks in a dual tub, while male spa guests can unwind with bespoke treatments like the VIP Retreat, a combination of hydrotherapy, massage, and an express facial in a private suite. The Signature Customized Body Treatment is a unique ritual, as guests select their own ingredients for a salt or sugar scrub.

- The resort provides roundtrip airport shuttle service.
- This pet-friendly resort caters to its four-legged guests; advance notice is required and a $25 per night fee applies.
- The region offers distinct seasons year round. Winters are cold, with ample snow and an average high temperature of about 29° F, while summers are humid, with an annual high temp of 79° F.

Inspired by the grandness of its mountainous and lake surroundings, the Essex provides a sanctuary for athletic enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Tennis is a major draw of the resort, as it is home to six Har-Tru clay courts and host of Vermont's Tennis Vacations program; additionally, the Four-Diamond retreat is certified as an Orvis-endorsed fly fishing lodge. An outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi, open seasonally, complement the spa's indoor pool (available year round). Designed with comfort in mind, Essex's 120 guest accommodations create a tranquil atmosphere. Rooms reside within the resort's Main Building, Mansion, and Manor and come in a variety of layouts, from traditional guest rooms to suites to studios. Select accommodations feature gas stoves, kitchenettes, fireplaces, and Jacuzzis; high-speed Internet access is also offered.
Diners have their option among three on-property restaurants. At Amuse, guests are introduced to regional, farm-to-table fare and a wine menu that won the prestige of Wine Spectator magazine's 2009 "Best of" Award of Excellence. Amuse also offers a Chef’s Table option, where diners can enjoy watching their meals be prepared right before their eyes. The inviting pub-type Tavern, popular with guests and locals alike, is a good choice for a laidback lunch or dinner and features live music on Thursday and Saturday nights. A spa menu is offered at each eatery, and specific diets can be catered to upon request.
In addition, the Essex's Cook Academy inspires guests to find their inner chef in an intimate classroom-kitchen setting.
