With 87 guest rooms, the four-star resort, part of the U.K. destination spa group Champneys, caters to guests looking to combine rejuvenation and relaxation in England's south coastal countryside.

The 200-square-meter spa has 42 treatment rooms and boasts the U.K.'s first thalassotherapy pool. Additional spa facilities include a sauna, steam room, mud treatment areas, and separate men's and women's locker rooms.

The spa menu blends holistic and beauty treatments such as reflexology, shiatsu, facials, and microdermabrasion using Champneys, Elemis, Babor, and Bare Escentuals products. Additional offerings include invigorating salt and citrus scrubs, slimming and firming wraps, and nail, waxing, hair, and makeup services; guests can also unwind with palmistry, hypnotherapy, and numerology therapies at the Alternative Health Clinic. The spa's Rasul chamber, in which guests can apply purifying muds while basking in therapeutic steam, is a popular fixture for individuals and couples.

Guests can also relax with a dip in the 25-meter indoor swimming pool, followed by a refreshing, healthy drink at the Spa Bar.

Out dated, small facilities- Meager outdoor pool with limited range of bikes for rent. Ridiculously small gym with limited amount of weighted exercise facilities. Whole hotel needs updating, very out of date decor (especially in restaurants). Everything seems cheap and quickly put together. "Old House" section of hotel is beautiful however, but not utilized well enough. Mere restaurant is gorgeous but despite being '5 courses' could definitely serve them in a more silver service manner. Would make guests feel special. Staff were polite and well trained in treatments area, however they had to work from cramped rooms in an attic space and seemed under stress to 'conveyor-belt' clients. Restaurant staff were uninterested in clients and were stood around bar chatting to each other. Took a few minutes to try and get some attention to buy a coffee or book in for dinner. Young boy in restaurant wearing a black waistcoat clearly pocketed the cash after serving some drinks, could see this from row of tables close to bar. Made me skeptical what I was actually paying for- a coffee or his petrol home?! Spoke to brown haired girl on reception about the incident and she told me I must have been seeing things. Rude!!!!

Another visit to Forest Mere, but this time we were so tired and recovering from winter bugs that all we wanted to do was sleep. Which we did endlessly - and delightfully. On the whole staff, especially in the main dining hall, were charming and helpful. In another of the restaurants, no, they were not. The price of the return vouchers has gone up, the extras are charged at a higher rate too, so this time I refrained from any such purchase as the deal has lost considerable merit compared with before. I would return, but not before checking out other spas.

After tripping over uneven carpeting during the 'tour' at the very beginning of our visit and injuring my knee - which meant I could not attend any of the classes and my enjoyment of the day was very limited - Champneys have studiously ignored any communication from me. I feel there are serious health and safety concerns at this facility and I would warn any Spa goers to be very careful walking around the site. Insist on taking your belongings, robes etc. to the lockers before the tour. Good luck.

We stayed at Champneys in January 2011 and had an amazing time. The whole stay was relaxing and we came away feeling relaxed and refreshed. The food is great - really healthy but tasty and lots of choice. The treatments were carried out professionally and were just truly amazing. I had a massage and I came out feeling on cloud 9! I would certainly recommend a stay here - your time and money will not be wasted.

I went to this Spa at the end of June with six friends and I couldn;t fault it. Our room was gorgeous it had a balcony with great views. The food was divine and the treatments so relaxing. The location is outstanding and I would definitely go again

This was my first time at at Champneys Resort, and what a wonderful time my mum and me had. The location was beautiful and relaxing, the staff were friendly. The treatments were amazing, and the exercise classes were fun. I will going going back it :)

Two of us needed a break, and a break with pampering. And this is entirely what we got. Champneys at Forest Mere is in the most beautiful of settings, our rooms were excellent, the food divinely delicious. We tried several different treatments and thalassotherapy which was a most extraordinary experience - and then wanted another session of it. The swimming pool at Forest Mere is quite one of the most lovely to swim in. I decided to have a swimming lesson as well - and learned so much, with such humour and encouragement, that I can't wait to come again - let alone for the sheer enjoyment and sense of being restored. Marvelous altogether.

My friend and I were fortunate to have a girly day away at Champneys Forest Mere, the whole experience was heaven, from the location, to the scenary, to the treatments and the food. The whole day was wonderful and we both felt very relaxed and chilled out after our special day. I particularly enjoyed my facial, and felt that the Beauty Consultant really listened to my needs and was able to recommend products that were not possibly the most expensive, but actually were right for my skin. Would definitely go again.

    The 87 guest accommodations range from Economy Rooms, appointed with a bath or shower, to spacious Suites, individually styled and furnished. Amenities such as bathrobes, refreshment trays, color TVs, and in-house toiletries provide a restful, comfortable atmosphere. Some rooms provide balconies or patios.

    Menus from the resort's three dining establishments highlight nutritious yet flavorful cuisine and provide a balanced diet. Dishes are high in fiber and low in saturated fats, sugar, and salt, and are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The dining ambience is casual; guests are encouraged to wear robes to breakfast and lunch (proper attire is requested for dinner), and a common table invites guests to interact.
