Based on one of the very first pieces of apparatus Joseph Pilates invented, the Wall Unit (or Tower) will take you on an exploration of all planes of movement. Arm springs, Leg Springs, Push Through Bar, and more will be used in a variety of seated, lying and even standing exercises for a well-rounded stretch and strengthening workout. *As with all our classes, other apparatus may be used to supplement and enhance the workout.

Pilates for Runners

This five-hour course will explore the anatomy of running and gait and help to understand how Pilates is uniquely suited to training the novice or experienced runner become more efficient and avoid injury. We will apply the current science of running to the classic Pilates repertoire. We will highlight the footwork and leg work in Pilates that can help runners become more efficient. We will also discuss common running injuries and the implications for the athlete in the Pilates workout. We will pay particular attention to the gait cycle and the anatomy of the foot and hip. This workshop will also explore the current science of fascia and the connections of the diaphragm, psoas, and pelvic floor to core strength and how that relates to running efficiency. This workshop will provide Pilates professionals with the tools to create a balanced workout for new, injured, or elite runners.
