I loved this place!
I feared that it would be like other spas I've frequented; too much like a dentist's office, and not calming enough for a spa. Really, this was the middle of the road, in the best way. It was organized and professional, yet aesthetically soothing.
My "Natural Balance Massage" was provided by Meredith. As much as I would have loved to quietly enjoy the massage, I struck up a conversation that ended up being completely worth-while. I ride horses for a living, so I'm constantly stiff, or in pain. Meredith shared her wealth of knowledge with me. She made recommendations for my next massage, was able to tell me what areas of my body needed more attention, and kindly answered my questions about acupuncture, acupressure, and different types of massages. Usually, when I get a massage, I almost feel guilty, as if the therapist is watching the clock, waiting for it to be over, so they can get paid and go home; like it's just a job and they don't enjoy it. Meredith made me feel completely at ease, and you could tell that she loves what she does, which made me trust her recommendations. The staff seem like they enjoy being at work, and there is nothing better than being a patron at that sort of business!

I have visited this spa for the last several years and have yet to receive anything but the very best service. The staff is professional, polite and only engage in conversation if you express a desire to talk. As soon as you enter the atmosphere is relaxing and put you at ease. I have recommending it to anyone who asks and have even hosted a spa party. 10 people attended the party and not one complaint.

Today I was excited to be headed to a spa and told anyone that would listen where I was headed, since I thought this would be a much needed stress buster. However, the opposite happened!!
Though it is obvious the architect and interior designer's goal to create a relaxing zen atmosphere, the staff were obviously not made aware of this mission . From the obviously inexperienced, chatty aesthetician doing my facial to the rough therapist doing my massage, I left there jarred and confused instead balanced. The service was sub-par to say the least!!!

Having now been in business and of service to our community for 18 years, we take all critiques and feedback very seriously. While it appears that we may have failed to meet ShamideJ's expectations, we want to emphasize that we will do whatever is in our power to redress her concerns to her full satisfaction, as we have consistently done over the years for our valued clients.
Deep tissue massage, our specialty, which is what was requested by, and therefore provided, to this visitor, may not have been the appropriate choice. We have and still do provide soothing, stress-reduction massage of a gentler nature. It's a tough call to make without sufficient feedback from the client before and during the treatment.
Our staff undergoes rigorous training and extensive continuing education. They are very conscientious and highly knowledgeable. Nevertheless, a review of the circumstances behind this visit will be made to see where adjustments may be called for.
We sincerely hope that ShamideJ will allow us to give her that much-needed stress buster she is seeking, as I know we can!

Natural Balance is one of the best spa's that I've visited in Brooklyn... I first visited them in the summer 07'.. Myself and some friends planned a surprise spa day for our pregnant girlfriend who was getting married....The staff was so helpful to us.... Tamara and the receptionists allowed us to use the yoga room - and we were able to bring our own food.. listen to music and truly enjoy the day. They all assisted us and made us feel right at home. We had an amazing time... and felt like we were the only ones at the spa... Their treatment rooms are relaxing.... the soft & relaxing music is just right... and whoever thought that they couldn't get a "Manhattan type spa" in Brooklyn....think again.... The only thing missing at Natural Balance is showers.....but you hardly miss it... and they take such great care of you...during/after treatments.
I also sent my mother to Natural Balance for a surprise spa/birthday gift as well later in the year - and she could not stop talking about Dorothy & Tamara's "SOFT HANDS"!...She had never had a massage - and is very "iffy".. about people touching her.... I convinced her that she would be comfortable at Natural Balance.. and that she should trust me.... as soon as I saw her...the first thing she said was: "Touch me!.. touch me!... my skin is sooooooo soft"... She really enjoyed herself.. and loved her facial/paraffin/foot clay masque from Tamara... who explained everything to her.....And her massage from Dorothy was "GLORIOUS"..... :)
Natural Balance is the perfect place to treat yourself... to have a girlfriend spa day... or to treat your older loved ones who have never had a spa experience.... This is the right place for them.... They won't feel rushed.. or as if they are in a stuffy spa... like some places in the city..... Total professionalism...great atmosphere... and warm staff.......
I loved the facial/massage that I received... and can't wait to go back....

I have made several visits to Natural Balance and have always received consistently great service. As an athlete, their deep tissue massage is my favorite for alleviating chronic pain in my legs and feet, but I have also had other more spa oriented services and these have been very satisfying, as well.
The ambiance is very tranquil and soothing. The staff is very friendly, down to earth, and attentive. I love the little extras that they have unexpectedly provided in some of the services. For example, I enjoy the heated herb pillows and the herbal ointment they used on my joints one time. I just want to mention that each therapist has been very good and no two treatments were ever exactly alike, which I especially like, because I always feel they are adapting the session to what I need most on any particular day.
I recommended Natural Balance to many friends and family, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a therapeutic experience in a friendly atmosphere. Great area, too. Parking is not a problem, and that's a big deal for anyone who lives in NYC.
