That pretty much sums up my thoughts on Violet Skin. It's just as expensive as any other spa but the service was average. I mean, don't get me wrong, massages are great no matter what but I walked out feeling like I didn't get my money's worth. Maybe it's because it doesn't have as many "perks" + the ambience other spas I've been to have, which really just make the whole thing a great experience that you can fully envelope yourself in. It's straight massage and then you're out. On the smaller end, so if that's what you're looking for then this'll work for you.

I love this place! I have been a customer of Violet for over 3 months now and I will undoubtedly say that this is the most professional, exclusive boutique spa on Newbury street. Their facials are heavenly, organic products with a lot of aromatherapy emphasis and extractions are always done with perfection. There is a great attention to detail everywhere you turn, and staff is super skilled ( Violet is a true master at her task and is very selective with her team selection). Karrie is one of the best for deep tissue massage! This place is a gem.

I am aware that spas don't usually take walk-ins, however, it was an emergency that I get a face wax since I accepted an invite to a formal event that was being held in about two days. The usual day spa I normally go to was completely booked this day, and so was a couple of other ones I go to for other services. I came across Violet, and I was desperate enough to ask them if they would actually take me in as a walk in. The place was beautiful, with their lilac and white color patterns, however, the receptionist was a little snobby, but she did ask an available esthetician if there was a possibility she would take me in as a walk in. I don't remember her name any longer, possibly Allison. She told me that she would quickly do my face (sideburns, eyebrows, upper lip, and chin) before her next client came. I was grateful for it, and didn't mind that she rushed me into one of her rooms, but I did not expect that she did not prep my skin, and just slapped on the wax on one side of my face, which was burning hot! She apologized, but she seemed in such a rush that she just ripped the strip from my face. I am very particular about my face, and this is the reason why I only see one person for it, because this is what happens! She did my other sideburn, quickly blowing on the wax before quickly applying it, but it was STILL hot! My eyes were watering, and I was totally confused at why she was NOT listening to me! The wax was so hot, it was like water! I decided that I wanted to leave, and she handed me a tissue that she sprayed with water from bottle (she told me it was when I asked). She didn't even offer some kind of anti-inflammatory ointment for my face. I paid for the service, but did not tip her. I finally went outside, and as soon as the street air hit my face, the burning was even more intense. There were no mirrors that I could look at in Violet, so I hurried to the nearest place I could to find some kind of skin product to help it, since I was really traumatized by this torture chamber, I didn't feel like coming back and asking them for anything more. A woman at a local skin care store was nice enough to apply some aloe vera skin lotion to soothe the burning. I was also finally able to see what had happened to my skin, and both sides of my face was extremely swollen, red, and irritated, and it was painful. NEVER AGAIN! The place may look professional, cute, and inviting, but this was such a horrible experience I would never wish upon anyone else that are "curious" about this place.
