Not the most attentive staff/management, especially if you have a question or problem. also, the massage wasn't what I'm used to, and it seemed rushed which made me feel even more tense.

I enjoyed my facial with Gulcan - she is great and personable. She was very gentle. I received a pedicure from Tracy, which was not very good. Her attention was everywhere else. But because Gulcan was so great, it outweighed the bad pedicure treatment. I have to give the review 4 stars, when I should be giving the place 5 stars.

I usually get massage once a month with Ruby [80 min],she is amazing but ,for the first time I tried a facial with Ruby as well ,what a great experience . I have very sensitive skin and she was very careful with the treatment ,two services at once ,you can not ask better than that. The front desk were polite ,even I canceled the appointment twice and reschedule again . I enjoyed every time I go there.Thanks Ruby for a great job. I will be there every month definitely .

I went for the Wellness Week deal on their 45 minute massage. This was my first professional massage and I was a little nervous but mostly excited. The "food-court" location, as many have called it, is actually not bad at all, since the spa is tucked all the way back in a corner of the food court and the massage rooms are in the back of the spa, dimly lit with relaxing music. When they called to confirm my appointment the day before, they failed to mention I should have arrived 15 minutes early; when I arrived I was right on time, but apparently that's a little late since I was supposed to fill out a survey. The only downside of my massage was my masseuse - she was actually kind of rude, informing me three times that I was late. However, I'm sure it was just my masseuse because some of my friends have come here for massages and had absolutely wonderful experiences. I will visit this spa again, but this time ask for one of the masseuses I know will give me a complete relaxing and wonderful experience.

I usually get massage once a month and like to try different spas. My first time here at Modern, front desk staff are nice but I had the worst massaged ever, all I got was lots of oil rubbed all over me then wiped the oil out with warm towel. I could not wait to get up and go. They will have you complete a form asking which part of your body do you want them to focus on and which part you don't, but they didn't even follow that, why bother complete a form. Over all instead of being relaxed after a massaged, I was more stressed and sore..Will never recommend this Spa.

We booked our services through the spafinder deal days. Never having been to the spa and it being nearby, we were pretty excited. I obviously didn't read the small print that said you could not use the spafinder gift certificates we had bought. Nor had it been mentioned when we booked our service. Not a big deal, as I'm sure we will use them elsewhere. However, when we went to the front desk, after a very lovely set of services, the manager (I presume that is who abruptly spun around) upon learning we had the certificates, snipped back at me that the certificates were not accepted during spa deal days and that I had obviously not read the websites closely. She was so snotty about it with her delivery, that it pretty much turned us off. It really was no big deal and we never made a big deal about it, but she went on the defensive immediately. We may or may not go back. The only suggestion I have is for a larger woman's locker room. With three of us in there, it was a little too personal for me.

At first I was a little skeptical about the mall-food-court location, but have thoroughly enjoyed each treatment I've received at Modern. The massage therapists are all amazing - Ruby and Juan Carlos in particular. Plus, if you're a massage person, they often offer value packs which bring the per-session price to about $65/for a $50 minute massage. Can't beat that! I've also had ingrown-free waxing and perfect manicures. All in all a great place, even if the ambiance is somewhat lacking.

I had one of the best facials I have had in the world as I travel a lot . I had a massage and pedicure that were just perfect . The staff were all polite and upbeat and very accomodating and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit . I will definitely go back!

I have extremely sensitive skin; I always make it a point to state this and possible recourse that has helped in the past. Twenty-four hours later my entire face has broken out in a severe rash, my skin feels numb, and I can begin to see the beginning of scabs forming. This was the result of the waxing. The pedicure was great!

I have been twice The first time I had a bad massage therapist - by far the worst massage ever. Happy Birthday to me- I decided to go again to wind down after Christmas.... Over 1/2 of the massage I listened to kids running around screaming and laughing. I can get that spending the day at my childrens school. Why on earth would I pay $115 for 80 minutes of it? This was today and when I wanted to talk to the manager. I was told she was not in yet, but the manager was in the back room who sent someone else on her behalf. I will NOT be going back and I will NOT be recommending Modern to anyone.

I've looked for a spa for a long time that made me feel comfortable, and this one is it. It's located in the Fashion Center at Pentegon City in Arlington, Va. The location makes it possible for you to do an afternoon or evening of shopping, and then escape to the serenity of the spa. The services are first rate, and staff is very friendly and helpful, (attractive also, but I'm not sure if that is PC to say) and the massage was EXCELLENT. If you go ask for Kattie she is awesome.
