The Peninsula Spa by ESPA is an escape from city life, with exclusive, timeless ESPA treatments and an earthy, contemporary vibe created by organic elements and cinnabar, amber and charcoal tones. The 35,000-square-foot facility is located on the top three floors and has 12 rooms, including a private couple’s suite, furnished with dual treatment beds, a steam shower and double bath; a glass-enclosed swimming pool, overlooking expansive views of Fifth Avenue and Central Park, and seasonal terrace add to the spa’s allure. Relaxation lounges come with individual beds trimmed in down comforters and Frette linens, personal sound systems and individually controlled lighting.
Spa-goers begin their journey with a welcome tea in the Asian tea lounge prior to treatments,followed by an in-depth consultation with their therapist in their treatment room. Treatments are inspired by holistic European and Ayurvedic practices.
Exercise enthusiasts can get their fix in the Life Fitness-equipped fitness center, or in complimentary group yoga, mat Pilates, aerobics and core workout classes. For those who wish to enjoy The Peninsula lifestyle year round, Private Fitness Memberships are also available and offer access to the entire facility, complimentary workout wear and discounts on spa treatments and the hotel's food and beverage outlets.

Upon entering the award-winning spa, guests are welcomed with herbal tea as they check in for their treatment. A spa attendant takes guests to the locker room where they are provided a personal locker, spa robe, and slippers. The spa’s changing rooms each feature a thermal suite—an aromatherapy steam room, sauna, ice fountain, and “experience” shower—designed to cleanse the skin and prepare the body and mind for the treatments to follow. Guests meet their therapists in the Asian tea lounge, an intimate area for guests to experience The Peninsula Tea Ceremony prior to their treatment. Post-treatment, separate men’s and women’s relaxation rooms provide the ultimate refuge for guests. Individual relaxation beds feature down comforters with Frette linens, personal sound systems, and lighting. As well, the fitness center offers cardiovascular and strength training equipment and a sun-lit movement studio, while the serene, glass-enclosed pool boasts sleek decor of teak columns set against a cool, black-tile floor. Poolside dining includes healthy Naturally Peninsula cuisine.

The 239 guest rooms and suites, reminiscent of the hotel’s worldly sophistication, are styled in muted hues and dark wood furnishings that offset stark linens. Three- or four-fixture marble bathrooms, king-size beds, and large executive desks create a comfortable respite, complemented by modern touches that include flat-screen TVs and Internet access. Select accommodations deliver an even greater sense of opulence, appointed with amenities like chandeliers, deep soaking tubs, and a grand piano.
Under the direction of Chef de Cuisine Brandon Kida, Clement restaurant serves contemporary American fare with a focus on the Northeast region, and its intimate bar area features a smaller menu of its own, an extensive wine list, and expansive windows. Interiors of Gotham Lounge, where afternoon tea and evening cocktails are served, provide an atmosphere of quietude, while the rooftop Salon de Ning, a 1930s Shanghai-inspired lounge, entices a livelier crowd; the bar’s alluring design invites revelers to gaze at dramatic Fifth Avenue views, ornate woodwork, and artwork while relishing signature cocktails.
