About Maroma Resort and Spa
The quiet spirituality of the Mayan people was the guiding inspiration behind Maroma Resort and Spa, a majestic hacienda-style property surrounded by 200 acres of lush rainforest and palm tree-fringed, white-sand beach that has been voted the best in the world by the Travel Channel. Maroma’s Kinan Spa features an alluring array of indigenous treatments, including a traditional Mayan temazcal, and was designed according to sacred geometry principles that were calculated by Mayan astrologists and constructed by native artisans.

Kinan, translated as “the source of the sun” in Mayan, extends 7,000 square feet, handcrafted from materials such as Zapote trees and conchuela by the family of native masons and woodworkers who originally built the resort. Designed to reflect Mayan sacred geometry, the spa houses several treatment spaces that include two couple’s rooms, outdoor massage palapas, a rooftop tower with panoramic jungle and sea vistas, and areas with private gardens; other amenities include a steam bath, saunas with cold plunge pools, and a temazcal, the Mayan version of a sweat lodge.
Kinan Spa treats guests to locally inspired holistic treatments that utilize natural ingredients and ancient Mayan therapies. Unique offerings include the signature Kinan Ritual, a combination of an herbal wrap and exfoliation, followed by a four-hand massage incorporating lomilomi techniques. Medical spa services—injectables, cellulite treatments, body reshaping, and more—are also available.

It has three swimming pools, an entertainment room, and observation tower that affords 360-degree property views. Its 24-hour cultural palapa is stocked with a wide selection of books that includes an extensive collection about Mayan and Mexican culture. Rooms & Dining
Hand-painted tiles, original art, a rainbow hammock, and mahogany and leather furniture from the hotel's own workshops make each of the 165 guest rooms unique; in keeping with the tranquil, spa-like atmosphere that pervades the entire resort, each room also has locally handmade soaps. Oceanfront one-bedroom suites feature a private plunge pool and fitness room, while ground-level suites are steps from the beach. The four-bedroom villa also has a private pool, along with a full-fixture kitchen, private chef, and barbecue on the terrace.
Dining by candlelight against the soundtrack of a live band, patrons of El Restaurant enjoy innovative Mexican cuisine, particularly fresh seafood and regional Yucatan dishes. El Sol serves a tapas-style menu of Mediterranean fare infused with Mexican flavors, and the restaurant offers an extensive selection of local vintages. Diners are also in for a fun afternoon or evening at the beachfront Freddy’s, where highlights include a laidback setting and ceviche prepared tableside.
