The quiet spirituality of the Mayan people was the guiding inspiration behind the Maroma Resort and Spa, a luxury resort on the Riviera Maya. A temazcal and jantzu, both of which have Mexican roots, are offered on the treatment menu. But while indigenous treatments are popular at many spas, Maroma's Kinan Spa goes to a new level. It was designed according to proportions--often called sacred geometry--that were calculated by Mayan astrologists, and it has been constructed by native artisans.
Elsewhere, the resort also shows the influence of the region's native culture.
