YIN YANG YOGA - The way

Yin Yang Yoga (or Taoist Yoga) follows the philosophy of opposing forces: This class is separated into two parts that function as a whole (as Yin and Yang). The first half of the class is used to practice yin poses - YIN being the stable and unmoving force – holding poses while the muscles are still cool and keeping the muscles relaxed so as to strengthen joints and ligaments by gently stressing connective tissue. The second half of the class is used to practice the yang poses - YANG being the moving and changing force – the flow of poses to build strength and endurance through muscular contraction. Together the polarity of forces allow Prana (energy) to run freely up and down the spine and enrich the body’s ability to sit in meditation with ease.
