Snooty and unprofessional experience
I recently visited David Alexander Spa for waxing services. I was offended by the rude treatment from the staff, particularly the front desk, who made me feel like it was an inconvenience for them to address me. More importantly, the wax technician, Jane ripped my skin in multiple places and missed whole patches of hair. It was a horrible, painful, and long term recovery situation instead of a peaceful, pampering experience. I contacted the Spa directly first to request a refund or service compensation and Scott the owner and manager was extremely rude and inconsiderate. He did nothing to refund or compensate me for my horrible experience. Needless to say, I will never visit the salon again, and I certainly would not recommend it to anyone! You are risking the health of your skin by going to this spa.

Last minute appointment for facial/massage-GREAT!, but VERY dissapointed!
My husband and I both called off work to celebrate our anniversary to spend the day together...what better way than to spend it at a spa! Well...that's what we thought. The front desk service was great! We are off to a good start...but it quickly took a turn for the worst! I got a massage while my husband got a facial and we flip flopped services when each was done. The woman who gave us our massage may have easily been her first day working as a massage therapist! Nothing is worse than thumb and elbow kneeding in your body! On top of the awful discomfort she wasn't very polite and/or thought about what she said before she said it..."Have you been out in the sun recently?" I answered "yes"...her response "ew, your back is really dry and peeling" then continued to brush off the dead skin haphazardly! I warned her about how she may have to be a little bit more gentle on my husband as he doesn't like rough massages. Well, when it was my husband's turn he mentioned he was sore from working out the day before...she responded "oh great, yes a deep tissue massage will be perfect for that then"...it was not a very relaxing experience! HOWEVER...we both had GREAT facials...if I go back there again it will ONLY be for that!

Prior to seeing Stacey, I changed hair dressers constantly. I guess you would call me high maintenance. I've known Stacey for ten years and would follow her anywhere. She is amazing with color and styles and is always up to date on the latest trends. I've introduced her to five of my friends, and all rave about their experience with Stacey. I highly recommend her and her salon.

Front Desk snootiness
I had gone to this Salon for a few years. I finally had to leave because the front desk staff are so nasty and unpleasant to deal with. Well, I decided to give it a try again today (9/27/11), and the phone call was so unpleasant, so we don't need business, that I just told the young lady, never mind, I will go elsewhere.

Not what i asked for
I made a same day appointment specifically a 90 minute requested a deep tissue massage, a therapist experienced with a lot of pressure and was assured they had the perfect therapist for me, i also scheduled a facial. I showed up 30 min early to fill out paperwork,when i get there i find out i had only been scheduled for a 60 massage, and the facial. My therapist shows up 15 minutes late for my appointment, again when i met with the therapist she asked if there was anything she needed to know about, I told her between my shoulder blades were really tight and my lower back was really sore. She started me out on my back did my scalp and a small facial massage then got right into my shoulders. She quickly moved to my arms and the rest of my body. She saved my back, for last, and was very little time to work on it. Only when I directed her specifically what to do did she ever actually use deep tissue techniques and that was only for the last 5 minutes or so. I informed the staff of all of this before I left I was told the owner would contact me first thing in the morning that did not happen. I called and was told they were to busy to help me the owner would call me later that day or on Sunday, again did not happen.
Tabitha I think you may have us confused with Alexander's of Annapolis. We have not had a female therapist in our employment since early 2010. I am confident if you should try out our therapists you will have a much better experience! Best Regards Scott B Co-Owner

Visit with David worth the trip
I always hesitate when I visit a new spa and when I entered this one I thought, "OK, this is another hair and nail salon holding itself out as a spa." However, once you get through the very busy hair salon, you enter a different suite of rooms and the domain of David the massage therapist. He knows how the body works and is eager to offer suggestions to help your overall body well-being. I would definitely visit again when passing in and around Annapolis.

Poor Service at front desk
I had been going to DA for almost a year and liked my hair stylist, the cut and color I rcvd. When I tried to schedule my next appt I was not able to secure a spot on the calendar for the evening time slot I regularly booked. I offered to go one week early or one week later but nothing was available. The owner offered to assist. While I had usually recvd good service and very generously reciprocated via of tipping for the stylist and the assistant who washes hair, I have since moved on and found another salon who wants my business and is willing to accomodate my tight work schedule. The front desk person could not have been more unhelpful, and DA should not have offered to assist and figure out the scheduling if they did not mean it -- and they didn't mean it because I never heard back from them.

As much or as little as you want
I love this salon & spa. I drive 20 miles to get my hair cut and cared for by Jamie and her team. Jamie does a great job listening to what you want and delivering it. While getting my haircut, David was recommended to me by Jamie. So I scheduled a 90min massage. OH MY he was amazing. David is knowledgable and very perceptive. He targets your "trouble zones" I've only been back once for a 110 min massage because my travel schedule is pretty full but I will be return to a regular schedule as quickly as possilbe, awaiting to see if David notices any improvement as a result of my "homework" as he assigned. Finally, Renee was recommended to me as well by Jamie (my stylist), as I was getting a haircut and desperately need a brow wax! Not only did I get my brows groomed, I scheduled a facial. Although, I don't like facials, I consider them a necessary evil. Renee does a very good job of caring for your skin.

Nice visit, but expensive
I found the staff to be very friendly however, it does seem to be on the more expensive side. I would go back and wish that they had more packages or specials.

Massage and Hair Heaven
I drive one hour to have my massages at David Alexander. Every holiday I ask for gift certificates! The staff is friendly, courteous, helpful and experienced. My massage therapist has her qualifications all over the walls and she's received so much specialized training - and it shows! I needed medical massages and her hands have healed. I have also had a great haircut here and my mom has her hair cut and styled here all the time. The hair stylists are all warm and friendly, have great ideas without pressuring you either way, and you always leave looking and feeling gorgeous. I own my own business and I can honestly say that this company has worked very hard to deliver the level of service they do. I don't know if all their customers have experienced the same thing, but I would be hard pressed to believe that anyone received awful service here, as another reviewer has suggested. I have been here so often over the course of two years and have never experienced anything near what that other customer says they experienced. While it may not be the same as a spa experience at a luxury resort that caters to the rich and famous, it is still WAY above the quality available in most day spas. I highly recommend this spa!

The worst customer service ever..
The people in there are so stuck up and have no respect for their customers. They messed up on my appointment and the lady whom I had an appointment with had the audacity to talk to me like I wasted her time when I showed up late because of their own mistake. If she doesnt have time for customers she's probably in the wrong business. I was gettin a 400$ service done for cryin out loud..Please never see Chrissy from that salon.

I Love it Here!
I love my visits to see Scott at David Alexander. He does such a great job with my highlights. I always feel great when I leave. It has a nice, comforting, relaxing atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. I recommend it to my friends all the time. I've found other salons to have a "stuck-up" feeling, but not at David Alexander. They are the best!
