About Samahita Retreat

Set on the quiet southern shores of Koh Samui island, Samahita Retreat fosters a serene, supportive environment for spa and wellness. Empowering, all-inclusive, personalized holidays and programs based on the disciplines of traditional Ayurvedic, Thai, Western, and Chinese therapies address physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing while promoting inner peace and balance (Samahita is, in fact, derived from the Sanskrit word for “centered”). All aspects focused on detoxification, stress management, weight loss, and yoga training are designed to educate and encourage personal growth to release life’s tensions  and move forward in a healthy, more fulfilling manner. Organic Asian and vegetarian cuisine offers the ultimate in nourishment, and all guest rooms reside within minutes of this oceanfront destination’s yoga shala, restaurant, saltwater pool, and beach.

Samahita Retreat is led by founder Paul Dallaghan and a team of wellness advisors, therapists, and a registered nurse.

Rooms & Dining

Rooms & Dining

A diverse collection of accommodations, ranging from single, double, to loft-style lodging, blends eco-friendly principles with contemporary comforts. As with the rest of the resort, interiors are designed to be idyllic settings for tranquility. Each room features a private balcony with sea vistas, queen-size beds, iPod-equipped alarm clocks, fridges, and WiFi Internet access (deluxe one-bedroom suites have telephones and TVs). All take thoughtful consideration of the environment, with 100-percent natural linens and towels, solar-powered hot water, and natural lighting.

Cuisine at Samahita Retreat draws inspiration from the theory of sattva, meaning “pure” and “light” in Sanskrit. Asian and vegetarian fare—served à la carte throughout the day, plus buffet style during brunch and dinner—emphasizes organic, natural ingredients to present the most wholesome of dishes; select items such as coconut and soy milks, breads, jams, and juices are handmade daily.

Meals are served in the open-air dining room, overlooking the beach. The restaurant centers around a communal table to promote socialization and encourage friendship.

Integrated yoga practice

This is an opportunity for anyone to explore yoga in more depth in a relaxing and revitalizing environment. Daniel will share his passion and enthusiasm for yoga, encouraging you to develop an integrated asana, pranayama and mediation practice and to bring yoga into your daily life.

Our morning sessions will begin with chanting and quiet meditation focused on breath, which we will develop into an introductory pranayama practice. Following this will be an expanded explorative style of asana informed by the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, building our postures from the breath, bandha and principles of alignment. We will develop a method of working our asana in a smooth, natural way. You will be encouraged to challenge yourself while respecting your limits. Daniel will be drawing on his own experience of an advanced asana practice.

During the afternoons we'll explore the philosophical context of our yoga practices and cover any questions you may have. We’ll finish with a lighter, relaxing asana session.

You will leave feeling recharged, invigorated and well nourished. Plus it's a chance to meet and share your experience with other yogis in a beautiful place.
