Went for a mani/pediBy jcarnazza | March 30, 2013
After going to the Asian nail salons in the area, I wanted to try a spa so that I could at least have an English speaking manicurist to converse with. I found this spa through the website because it was near my house and had good reviews. It was easy to make an appointment, as I called this morning around 9:15 and got an appointment for 3pm. The spa is very serene, much different than the hustle and bustle of the nail salons I've gone to. The MAJOR let down was that the lady I was assigned to didn't speak any english, so when I was trying to tell her what I was looking for in a manicure (a design not just polish) the other lady was answering for her. This annoyed me to no end because she should be able to understand what I want! They also were not able to do any design, only offered cheesy designs that are likely for younger girls or teenagers. I feel if you are providing manicure/pedicures for more than double of what a nail salon charges, then you should have all the tools necessary to accommodate a request. The mani/pedi turned out OK, but for $53.50 compared to $21 (what I usually pay), I could walk right down the street and not have to deal with the hassle of Montclair parking.

front desk is terribleBy DeborahW | November 10, 2012
The spa itself is small especially the locker room. The atmosphere in waiting room is tranquil but seats not very comfortable which makes relaxing difficult. The massage therapists are good which makes it all worthwhile. The front desk is terrible. They booked my appointment with the wrong amount of time and wrong treatment. That part of experience was so stressful that decided the quality of massage therapists wasn't worth dealing with front desk again. If can get past front desk the treatment is worth it. Also better if you can walk it is impossible to park close by. The Crescent is your best bet since meter won't expire.

Good Vibe, But Pricey.By JudyannA | April 23, 2012
I went to Sahana for a massage on a Groupon. It is truly a beautiful salon with a very serene, Indian Zen vibe. The massage was very good, but the girls at the front desk seemed a bit confused about the Groupon. Consequently, I got a longer massage than expected. Parking is impossible in the area and that hoping that your meter is not running out definitely detracts from the serenity. While I had a lovely experience, the priciness of the services is daunting. May have to wait for another Groupon.

Awesome Spa!By MichelleM | December 1, 2011
I've had two microderm facials with Tamara! Wow! Amazing! I've been to DePasquale, The Fountain, and many other spas. The atmospheres are nice, but the facials have not been as good as Sahana!

great spaBy JoanneC | August 23, 2011
The spa is small and is easy to miss on Bloomfield Avenue but it's one of the best spas I have ever been to. The massage and facial were excellent. Will go back again.

Michelle Bosco & Gina Biondo made our experience EXCELLENT!By Cristina S | February 14, 2011
This was the first time my husband and I experienced the Sahana spa. It was a true delight. The spa is small and not easily seen from the street although it is in a very accessible location. The size actually works to the patriots benefit because it ensures a low level of activity making it a more serene atmosphere.
What truly made our experience exceptional was the massage therapy we received from Michelle and Gina. They were very professional. After our 90 minute couples massage we were completely relaxed and looking forward to our next visit!

So relaxing!By GC | April 23, 2010
My experience at Sahana was a positive one.
The receptionist was friendly & accommodating,
when booking my appointment & the massage therapist was professional & thorough, the treatment enjoyable & relaxing.
A relaxing & serene atmosphere is created via soft music & candlelight & the space itself is painted in soothing colors & finished with natural-looking materials & wood floors.
The changing / locker room & showers are clean & well-stocked.
Aside from the impossible parking situation in Montclair - which is not the fault of Sahana - the location was convenient & easy to find.
I would return to Sahana.
A nice perk might be for them to offer parking validation, in one of the public parking facilities nearby.

Spa AddictBy LadyV | October 16, 2009
I checked out Sahana this week during Spa Week. I scheduled a facial and mani/pedi since I'm pregnant. Well when I arrived they had me down for a massage I guess a esthetician wasn't available so I took the massage but no one from mgt apologized or accepted responsibility. The massage was nice. I got my nails done but I felt a little rushed I wanted to change into my clothes so I wouldn't mess them up but the seemed to be rushing a little towards the end. But I do love Spa Ritual.

Fabulous Spa Experience!By LavetteB | October 16, 2009
I decided to try out Sahana for Spa Week after reading some of the positive reviews. In the past, I've gone to spas in NYC and they were very nice, but I was looking to find something local in New Jersey since I live here. Boy was I in for a treat when I chose Sahana!
From the minute I walked in, I was immediately impressed by the ambiance. The beautiful earth tones and India-inspired decor is just lovely. The sounds of the street are completely eliminated. You almost forget that you just walked off of a busy street.
I was then escorted into the changing room which is also very nice with high-tech lockers and spacious restrooms. It was a busy day due to the Columbus Holiday, but there was hardly any wait time. The little time that I was waiting was pleasantly enjoyed in the relaxation lounge where I sipped on green tea with honey.
As far as services, I took advantage of the Spa Week Deals and got the works- body scrub, massage and facial. They were all fantastic! Tanya gave me a wonderfully relaxing swedish massage. Linda gave a me a facial that has changed my opinion about getting spa facials. My last facial at another spa left me with blemishes and redness. Linda on the other hand, was so gentle with my extractions and was very informative about the process. And my face! It is so soft and supple. I've been told quite a few times since that I look like I'm glowing! My body scrub was also amazing. Patty did a great job of pampering my skin!
Overall, this was a wonderful experience. I left feeling relaxed and like a new woman. They use wonderful products that make your skin feel clean, smooth and moisturized. It is truly an unexpected Jewel in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. I highly recommend it!

Blown Away!!By Dominique`B | August 11, 2009
I was not expecting the immediate zen like feeling when I walked through the doors. Being that it's located off one of the busiest streets ever, I thought I would get caught up in the horns, busses, etc... of the locations , Boy was I wrong.. The receptionist was very welcoming, warm, and didn't rush us to keep keep appt time. Me and Mom got a quick tour of the spa and then escorting to the changing rooms that was very clean. The lockers that protect your belongings are great. My massage therapist was Linda my mom had Gina and they were just the BEST!!! We had 90 min massages annd once they were over didn't even get rushed out of the room. Then we were escorting to the relaxation room where we were given tea and honey and told to take our time to enjoy everything.. Steam showers were great . Just an all around great spa..

spaliciousBy spalicious | November 13, 2008
I was warmly greeted upon entering Sahana, I filled out some paper work and then was taken back through these beautiful carved wooden doors into a candlelit hall with a faint sound of indian music playing around me. I felt as though I was entering another world. I received the prenatal bliss package as a gift from my husband. Having spaed before pregnancy but, never while pregnant... I was a bit nervous. My mind was put at ease almost instantly by my massage therapist. My massage was amazing!!! I have not felt so comfortable in months. I then had a facial which was just a relaxing as my massage. My skin felt so clean and alive. The facialist helped me up from the bed and led me back down the hall for my pedicure and a much needed bite to eat. The warm bubbling water smelled of aromatherapy as plunged my swelling feet in. My pedicure was fantastic and the foot massage was out of this world. I swear my feet looked as though they shrunk in size!! Overall my experience at Shana was top notch. I am hooked!!!

Great NJ SpaBy Spajunkie27 | November 7, 2008
I've been to Sahana quite a few times since it opened. I mostly go for the massages. I forget the male masseuse's name, but he gives an incredible deep tissue massage. I understand that the female is terrific too, as my fiance gets her.
The facial I got was mediocre, but the waxing there is as close to painless as I've ever felt. She was gentle and kind and I really liked her.
The nail techs are certainly lacking. My fiance gets athlete's foot if you look at him cross-eyed, and it began to develop on his heel after his pedicure. He was not happy. For mani/pedis I'd steer clear, but for everything else I've never been disappointed.

All I can say is ahhhhhh.........By tlc05 | November 6, 2008
Carmen at Sahana is THE BEST. I was going to cancel my appointment because I had a bad cold, and I am so glad I didn't! Carmen mixed up some aromatherapy for me to breathe in, and I swear it cured me! I have had both swedish and deep tissue massages from Carmen and both are great. Sahana is beautiful and it's like taking a little vacation.

Great Mani/Pedi, bad chairs and loud lobbyBy SJackson | June 21, 2008
I really went because my sister liked the way it looked, she really enjoyed her sugar massage. I recieved a Sahana mani/pedi, which was great and done to perfection by Maria.
My peace was ruined by the loud activity in the lobby area and a child running around the front area. There are signs everywhere telling you to respect the peaceful atmosphere but the people working there don't. WHY ARE THERE KIDS RUNNING AROUND. And the pedicure chairs are NOT comfortable, I know they are trying to be different by having artsy chairs but the good old fashioned pedicure recliners are the best. I was very uncomfortable.

I had a wonderful experience at Sahana Spa in Montclair. I thought the service and decor was first class and quite comparable to Bliss & Silk in Manhattan.
I would return and recommend to friends.

Best Spa in NJBy mich01 | February 22, 2008
I can't believe what a great spa they have going on there in the Heart of Montclair.
I was referred to it by a friend of mine who couldn't stop talking about Sahana this and Sahana that. After having a full day of service, including massage, facial and Mani-Pedi, I no longer have to travel through the tunnel to get the real deal treatment. It looks like palace in India, and I know from my travels and the staff is more than accomidating. I just mentioned that I missd my Starbucks in the morning and as soon as I came out of my first massage, there was a Starbucks latte warm and waiting.
I have been to Oasis, Silk, Bliss and all the Jersey Highway Spas and my next appointment will be at Sahana.

The Best MassageBy spagirl123 | February 19, 2008
WOW!. What an experience Sahana Spa was.
I had the best massage. I usually go to NYC but after receiving a Gift Certificate from my husband I got my first service here. From the steam shower, the friendly staff and the massage therapist it was the best spa experience. I highly reccommend this spa for anyone is looking for relaxation.

OVER rated and OVER pricedBy SSammy | February 1, 2008
I had a massage, facial and a manicure/pedicure package here at Sahana. I thought it would be a great place to go since it was a local spa, but it turned out it was completely over priced for the quality of the treatments I received.
The massage was alright with the exception that I saw a dark curly hair in the towel I was about to lay down on...
The management and staff are arrogant and unfriendly, and they have you wait in a boring room while wasting your money and time.
Get your moneys worth and take the trip into Manhattan where the facilities are nicer and you get what you pay for.

Services not up to parBy Sula | December 21, 2007
I've had several services here, and have not experienced the quality one would expect. I might be spoiled by spas in Manhattan, but the spa does not have high standards.
Nail services here are done in a fast, haphazard way. They are not relaxing and quite costly for what is offered. I received a manicure and pedicure and both services were completed in exactly 1 hr. My bill, over $50 (and that was with a discount). The proprietor stated that part of the cost was because of the natural products, but still not the quality one would expect at a spa.
Because it is a local spa, I've tried to see if it can be an option for me. However, I've been disappointed with every service (facial, waxing, etc.) Not worth it, esp. so close equivalent spas in Manhattan.

Sahana does not dissapoint!By Dollhouse | March 2, 2007
Such a beautiful and tranquil spa. Everything was done tastefully and to perfection. I had a fantastic Sundari facial with Nicole which was wonderful followed by a long steam shower in the locker room to prolong the experience before reentering the real world. And I really appreciate that they don't push a million products on you like other spas. Definitely returning and so glad to find an excellent spa here in Montclair.

Prettiest spa I've ever been toBy njspagirl | February 19, 2007
I've been to quite a few spas in Canada, the Northeast, and Mexico..this one definitely takes the prize for the prettiest, most tranquil environment. The lemon sugar massage was wonderful (thanks Brianne)!, and the steam shower was wonderful..she gave me the leftover sugar scrub to use after she was done with the massage. Fantastic and I'll definitely return.
The only down side was the nail services and threading services listed on their site are not yet available....aside from that..great!!

A new Island in the Middle Montclair-called SahanaBy Nic1101 | December 1, 2006
A beautiful facility, my husband & I were their first clients. We were treated like royality. Very friendly staff. We both had the surgar lemon massages & felt we floating on the cloud. I had a Nirvana Mancure, which my hands felt like butter. We didn't want to leave the Sahana Spa. This was one of the best spa we ever had! We can't wait to go back to to try something new!
