About Tortuga Bay
Tortuga Bay is a boutique property within Puntacana Resort & Club, a behemoth resort and residential community encompassing amenities galore. Its 15 villas were designed by legendary style maven Oscar de la Renta, who was born in the Dominican Republic. Coral stone covers both the façade and the floor in all villas; interiors feature mahogany and rattan furniture made by local artisans. In addition to authentic Dominican décor and spacious terraces, these accommodations have luxuries such as 41-inch plasma televisions.
Guests have exclusive access to a quiet sliver of white-sand beach, a swimming pool, and a poolside restaurant, and they can make full use of Puntacana, which has the only Six Senses Spa in the Americas. Each villa gets two golf carts that guests can use to negotiate the 15,000-acre complex. Tortuga Bay guests receive VIP treatment at Puntacana's on-site international airport, a short ride from the villas.

Located in the golf clubhouse, Puntacana's 19,400-square-foot (1,802 square meters) Six Senses Spa at Puntacana has eight indoor treatment rooms with private steam baths and changing rooms. In addition, there are two beachfront palapas. The spa's organic design aesthetic, with touches of bamboo and wood, adds to the tranquil ambience.
All therapists worked at Six Senses locations in the Far East before coming to this spa, which opened in 2005. The internationally trained staff specializes in Asian-influenced treatments such as Thai massage with or without herbal compresses and Vietnamese massage incorporating cupping.
The signature Soul of Six Senses massage combines a four hands massage and cleansing facial performed by two therapists. Another specialty: the 60-minute Tropical Fruit Body Smoother, a full-body treatment using locally grown papaya, pineapple, watermelon, and rice grains. Spa services and products use natural ingredients only.

- There are direct flights to Punta Cana International Airport from the following North American cities: Atlanta (3.5 hours), Charlotte (three hours), Miami (two hours), New York (3.5 hours), Newark (3.5 hours), Orlando (two hours), Philadelphia (five hours), Toronto (4.5 hours). Guests are transported from the airport to their villa for no charge.

There are 15 Oscar de la Renta-designed villas, 10 oceanfront and five facing the golf course. The design incorporates local artworks, rattan furniture, and a neutral color scheme. The bottom floor of each villa is a two-bedroom family suite with a living area and kitchenette. Couples can book suites with separate entrances upstairs. Three-bedroom villas total 3,929 square feet (365 square meters); four-bedroom villas are 5,781 square feet (537 square meters). Three of the villas have an outdoor whirlpool.
Open for all three meals daily, Bamboo Restaurant is for Tortuga Bay guests only. The international menu includes dinner entrees of pan-seared red snapper, lobster ravioli, shrimp and calamari jambalaya, and mushroom risotto. Guests can also have breakfast on the terrace of their villa.
Puntacana's eight restaurants include the seaside Playa Blanca, which serves light fare, and the dinner-only Cocoloba, which also features a de la Renta design. The waterfront La Yola, architecturally designed to reflect a fisherman's boat, offers seafood and Italian specialties.
