Located on the ground floor of an elegant, octagonal building, the spa specializes in treatments based on the natural hot springs, including mud therapy, inhalations, and baths. Guests can "take the waters" in one of Terme's four pools, which have waterfalls and whirlpools. The Roman bath is lined in travertine stone and lit via a large skylight. Spa-goers first immerse themselves in the thermal waters, which are at body temperature, and shower in a stall that can be bathed in one's choice of orange or blue light. A steam bath and a bio-sauna complete the treatment.

Terme di Saturnia also offers a comprehensive medical spa with aesthetic and wellness therapies that include Biological Age Evaluation, which determines your psychophysical condition through a sequence of tests with the goal of slowing aging. Health professionals from several specialties, such as dermatology, psychiatry, and cardiology, are available for consultation, and the spa offers several innovative therapies, including the 12-minute Energad MK3, which uses electromagnetic currents that are said to relieve arthritis and rheumatism. Circulation-stimulating vibration therapy is known for its positive effects on osteoporosis sufferers.

The spa's beauty menu encompasses a full range of massage, facials—including the signature Saturnia Gold Facial—and body wraps and scrubs. Nutrimelis and Ultrivitas treatments combine honey and essential oil application with relaxing massage for a therapeutic experience. Guests are also invited to pamper themselves with a 70-minute Saturnia Long Massage. Ultrasonic Keralytic facials incorporate ultrasound to aid the skin in absorbing moisturizing and anti-aging products. Treatments incorporate products from the Termi di Saturnia Skin-Care Line, which is enriched with a moisturizing thermal plankton extract, derived from the thermal spring.

The spa houses 53 treatment rooms, in addition to the Blackrose Spa relaxation area, where guests can enjoy personalized therapies.

A Terme (thermal bath or spa) and Italy...what more could you ask for? I first visited the Terme as a teenager with my mom during the winter of 1994. Almost 20 years later, it is still one of my top choices for destination spas. Offering the natural thermal waters of the area and a wide array of treatments, this luxurious spa in the beautiful Tuscan hills of Italy is an ideal place to seek a retreat from the world. Whether your visit is simply a day rest from your Italian adventures or a longer sojourn to rejuvenate and refresh, I highly recommend adding Terme di Saturnia Spa to your list of "must visit places."

Just spent 3 days at this location and was very impressed with their spa. Especially enjoyed the salt-water indoor/outdoor area with the various jacuzzi-like stations. Had a massage shortly after arriving....excellent and revived me. Loved the breakfasts and the breakfast room especially. In the evening it is lit with candleabras...gorgeous.

My friend and I stayed here a week. We would do a treatment, dine in luxury then hop in the car to tour the nearest hill towns of Maremma. An absolutely beautiful spa! The people are wonderful.

This is one of the top thermal spas in Europe. Big hot water pool sitting on the site of the thermal spring - you can see the water currents coming up through the unmade floor of the pool. The smell of sulphur tells you this is the real deal - and you soon get used to it. Very extensive spa and medi-spa facilities and an amazing 'spa within a spa'. This is the Black Rose Spa - a new initiative - which is dramatically decorated in black and dark grey and offers high end spa treatments. One tiny gripe - I would have liked to see a cold water pool as a cool down swim alternative. Good gym with great staff - although looked a bit underutilised (don't think the Italians do the gym thing). Great service all round. Golf course looks classy.

I rated lots of the spa at 4 stars but overall a 5 star. Reason is they all add up nicely to a special experience. First is the thermal water big outdoor pool...great sun and wonderful relaxing body feeling after enjoying. Next are the rooms which seem newly done and very nice...upper end type rooms. The dining is also special and the outdoor dining by the pool at night is especially nice. I would say that if there was anything amiss here it would be the actual treatments which are just ok but certainly not the main event at a special property like this. The spa property caters to all types of travelers but is especially well-known to Italians. There is a new golf course that recently opened on the property making the place even more attractive to spa/golfers. All in all this is a must spa to go to because as I said, it all ads up to a 5 star even with a few bumps. I think you also need to take into consideration that my viewpoint is from an US citizen and resident so I probably look at things a hair different than Europeans or Italian locals.
