Worst Facial & manicure ever

I want to let you know what a terrible experience I had at your spa yesterday, April 17th. My friend and I both had appointments for the mini day spa which includes a massage, facial, and manicure.
The massage was fine - Janet was very nice and that part of the package seemed the norm.
However, my friend and I were both horribly disappointed at the facial - lightly applying 5 different creams to my face, and wiping each of them off succesively with a hot steamy towel is not my idea of a facial. There was no exfoliation, no extraction done, nothing that would actually clean my face. The cleansers she applied were applied and wiped off right away, and were not even massaged into the skin. My friend actually asked her about extraction, and she stated "your skin is so great, I didn't think you needed anything like that.". However, the lights were dim and she didn't even look with a magnifying mirror at our skin. The five cleanser/lotion application was then followed by approximately 15 -20 min of "caress/light touch" massage of our face, it was not even what I would consider massage. In addition to the facial seeming completely worthless, I felt that she did not attend to my comfort. Upon entering the room, I told her that I was very hot, that the room seemed warm. She did not turn off the bed heater, so I lay there, hot and sweating for the entire time.
Finally, the bed did not have the ability to sit up at all. At other spas where I have received facials, the head of the bed can be adjusted. I am 8 months pregnant and was very uncomfortable laying flat on my back. When I asked for the type of pillow that was used during the massage, she just gave me a knee bolster, which really didn't help the situation.
I don't think your spa should offer prenatal massage and treatments when you don't even have a larger size robe/towel with velcro . This was not large enough for my pregnant belly, and was uncomfortable.
As a last comment, I will say that our nail technician was definitely not friendly. My friend accidentally messed up her thumbnail polish while I was getting my nails done. There wasonly one tech so we had to wait on each other to finish. Really it needed to be completely redone, but she just brushed polish on top with polish remover applied with her finger, which created a dent affect and broke and fell off 1 hour later. My friend tried to ask her to just take off the polish and redo (actually my friend just asked for the polish to reapply herself) and the technician basically told her "she knew what she was doing and not to interfere." Nothing like being talked down to.
Overall, I did not enjoy my spa experience. I would not recommend to others. I was disappointed with your establishment. My friend and I both work in customer service fields and were rather surprised at your approach.

About the time this review was written, this client contacted me and brought this situation to my attention. I gave an apology and stated that I would take all her comments into consideration. I covered the situation with my staff. I offered to have the two of them come back to the spa for complimentary services.
Despite the fact they used Spa Finder gift certificates, I cut them a check for $166. I told them that if they were unhappy, I did not want to profit off their services and would give their money back. They took the check, thanked me for my response and we parted ways amicably.
We do thousands of services each year and I know that we can't fully satisfy each client every single time. Still, we strive to provide the ideal customer experience. When that doesn't happen we sympathize with the client and take their comments into serious consideration to prevent a similar situation from happening in the future. Finally, I offer a money back guarantee on all services, no questions asked. Fortunately we have not had to do that very often, but I will not hesitate to refund a client who is unsatisfied.
