Tucked away in the center of the hotel is the GB Spa. The 1,140-square-meter spa offers an east-meets-west philosophy, complemented by the spa's decor of fresh orchids and basalt stones. The spa has a salon, as well as six treatment rooms for massages, facials, wraps, scrubs, and Ayurvedic-inspired services. One of the must-have treatments is the 70-minute Nourishing Yoghurt, Honey & Sugar Wrap, which begins with a foot soak followed by a body exfoliation, body wrap in Greek honey and yogurt, and a scalp massage. Other popular treatments include a regenerating collagen mask, and the ESPA Flight Reviver. Treatments incorporate ESPA, Valmont, and Algoane products.

Guests can begin with a visit to the Thermal Suite, which comes complete with a laconium, sauna, and herbal steam bath (the suite is complimentary to all spa treatments over two hours). Spa-goers can also try the couple's suite for sharing treatments in tandem, or refresh in the ice fountain before retreating to the amethyst grotto. Nutritious spa cuisine is also available.

Guests may enjoy hydro-jet massage and therapeutic ozone-and-mineral water in the indoor pool, or take a dip in the heated outdoor rooftop pool. The fitness center comes complete with Life Fitness equipment featuring flat-screen TVs. Personal training is also available. An aqua gym and physiotherapy exercises are also offered in the pool.

Stuck in Athens but found a gem!

We were stuck in Athens another day due to the strike and found this spa by asking a concierge at another hotel nearby. The hotel is gorgeous and the spa a little spendy, but after we took advantage of the various steam rooms, saunas, showers and pools, it was a great treat. The only disappointment was when they took my daughter and I into the couples rooms for our treatments. The place was not busy so I'm not sure why they did that. If you're in Athens and need a great treat, this is a good choice.

Accommodations offer the finest appointments: comfortable beds with soft duvets; plush bathrobes and slippers; marble bathrooms sporting steam-resistant mirrors, deluxe bath amenities, and lighted magnifying mirrors. Each room features a mini-bar, wood-paneled wardrobes, flat-screen plasma televisions, and high-speed Internet access.
