  Located on the northeast coast of the island of Mauritius, the One&Only Le Saint Géran occupies 60 acres on a private peninsula. The luxury resort, surrounded by white sands and tropical gardens, is named for the ship Le Saint Géran, which crashed nearby in 1744 and was immortalized in Bernardin de Saint Pierre's novel Paul et Virginie.

  All 162 suites and the villa have private terraces facing the Indian Ocean or the gardens, as well as 24-hour butler service. Fine dining includes Alain Ducasse's Spoon des Îles and Vineet Bhatia's Rasoi by Vineet, both under the direction of Michelin star-awarded chefs.

  The One&Only Spa, together with ESPA, has nine treatment rooms and houses the fitness center, a boutique, a salon, a lap pool, and the Pedi:Mani: Cure Studio by Bastien Gonzalez.

  Resort activities include golf, tennis, swimming (three pools), bocce, croquet, cycling, water sports, glass-bottom boat trips, table tennis, beach soccer, and volleyball. There's a complimentary KidsOnly program (ages 4-11), with organized pursuits such as cooking lessons and sand painting, along with supervised activities for teens and babysitting services.

Set amidst by lush tropical foliage, the One&Only Spa by ESPA is housed in a secluded building to one side of the main resort, overlooking calm views of the reflecting pool and ocean. Contemporary interiors, styled in warm amber and gold hues complemented by fair-colored furnishings, sheer fabrics, and shell accents, provide an airy, light feel befitting of the island setting. Garden views can be had from all nine treatment rooms, and an open-air spa pavilion, available for solo or couples' treatments, is perched above water.

Holistic spa services utilize products from ESPA and revolve around the three-pronged philosophy: Unwind, Restore, and Elevate. Guests may also opt for one-on-one wellness consultations devoted to customized spa therapies, nutritional guidance, lifestyle advice, and exercise recommendations.

Manicures and pedicures are given at the Pedi: Mani: Cure Studio by Bastien Gonzalez by specialists personally selected by the French podiatrist; there is also a salon for hair care. Personal training is offered at the fitness center.

Of the 148 Junior Suites 117 have king-size beds, and 31 have queen-size beds. Room interiors are inspired by Dutch- and French-colonial decor, and all have a terrace or balcony. Ocean Suites have a separate lounge, private dining room, two secluded terraces, king-size beds, and bay windows. The Villa is located in a secluded corner of the resort and has a private swimming pool. The villa's master bedroom has a four-poster bed, and the second bedroom has two queen-size beds. There are two bathrooms with cascading showers and whirlpool baths, a fully equipped kitchen, and a living room/dining room area with china, crystal, and silverware for entertaining. Valet, butler, and chef services are available round the clock. Accommodations come with satellite TV, broadband Internet access, and entertainment systems.

Spoon des Îles is the creation of Michelin-star chef Alain Ducasse with a contemporary French menu that includes dishes such as dorado wrapped in banana leaf, ravioli with freshwater prawns, and wood-roasted rack of lamb. The restaurant, open for dinner, is closed on Mondays, and reservations are required. At Rasoi by Vineet, guests can dine on modern Indian creations, including an ever-changing tapas tasting menu, by Michelin-star chef Vineet Bhatia. Reservations are also required. The poolside La Terrasse serves international and local offerings buffet-style; in the evenings, guests can enjoy a live cultural show with dinner.

Sports at the resort include golf on the nine-hole Gary Player course, tennis at the Peter Burwash International Tennis Academy, bocce, croquet, table tennis, beach soccer, and volleyball. Water sports include swimming at one of the resort's pools (children's pool, spa lap pool, or family-oriented pool) or the beach, kayaking, pedal boating, snorkeling, windsurfing, Hobie Cat sailing, fishing, PADI and NAUI diving, and waterskiing with the JB Waterskiing Academy. The Kite Surfing Centre offers private courses for guests of all levels. Complimentary yoga classes are held thrice weekly, and the resort can arrange jogging partners for exercise enthusiasts. Guests venturing off resort grounds will want to visit the capital city of Port Louis, worth a trip to wander around Cauadan Waterfront and the Port Louis Bazaar.
