I've had a few massages here and the service and the facilities are always very nice but unfortunately the massage rooms are at the front of the building on US1 so you hear traffic, people talking on the sidewalk, etc. Not as relaxing as it could be. I haven't used any of the salon services so I can' comment on those.

My hairstylist was VERY nice. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and asked her IF SHE COULD DO IT. She said yes. After she washed my hair, I told her to blow my hair a certain way. She told me blow drying doesnt come with color. It has to be booked separately. I asked her, "Well, what do you do with customers, send them out with wet hair?" She said, "We usually give them a blow dryer and they dry themselves." FIRST RED FLAG. She ended up blowing my hair which I am sure I paid for...and it was horrible. It looked as if my hair was burnt and the ends were not flipped in or out. The color was not what I wanted or expected either, and she started making excuses...that the deep conditioner was weighing my hair down, that it will lighten up after a few washes, that it will look better in the sun...etc...I was thoroughly dissapointed. Then I got the bill. $180!! I was so upset, I left crying. I then went home and RE-DYED my hair with KoolAid, got the perfect color I wanted, and went to my usual hairstylist and paid $25 for her to blow my hair the way I love it. Do the math...$180 for not good hair/$25 for hair I love. I will never go to an expensive place like this again. I should have known better.

I went to this spa twice, the first time I got a manicure & pedicure and facial. The manicure & pedicure was fine but could get the same thing else where fro a lot less. The facial wasn't great, it did nothing for my skin. I was bad but it wasn't great, the esthetician didn't help my complexion nor did she do anything make it worse. I was given a free makeup application, I told the Artist I like a light natural look, she covered me maleup used black liner and dark lips.
The second time I went I got a facial and massage. The massage was fine but the masseuse was running late,when it was time for my facial the esthetician rushed through the facial I even found I had pieces of mask left on my face when I got home.

The Red Door Spa in Darien, is a gem. I love the whole experience from the friendly smiling faces that greet you at the front desk, to the pleasant changing room to the quiet room where you await your service or return to for some much need quiet time while enjoying a nice cup of tea and perhaps a cat nap under their fabulously cozy blankets. The deep tissue massage is my favorite and very good. Treat yourself.
