The luxurious 35,000-square-foot Spa at Cranwell features a skylight along the main entrance corridor and sixteen well-appointed treatment rooms. In consideration of the chilly winter months, the spa is connected to 58 of the guest rooms by heated glass-enclosed walkways. Another place to enjoy views of the grounds and the surrounding Berkshire Mountains, is the 60-foot long indoor pool, which is enclosed by a 20-foot high glass wall. Decorated in warm earth tones, the interior design of the Spa creates a soothing environment where guests don terry cloth robes and slippers and unwind in the saunas, steam rooms and spacious whirlpool therapeutic baths. Before or after receiving a treatment, guests can relax in the adjacent lounge complete with a refreshment bar and fireplace.

With over 40 spa services ranging from soothing massages to healing wraps to organic skin and body treatments, the Spa is a terrific place to pamper yourself after a long day of activities. With 107 rooms and suites, Cranwell offers several different options for accommodations. The main house, the original Tudor mansion, has beautiful 19th century English Arts and Crafts styled rooms. The Founder's Cottage offers 27 deluxe rooms with balconies, terraces, and whirlpool tubs. These rooms are all linked to the spa by a glassed-in tunnel. For more contemporary quarters, Beecher's Cottage and the Carriage House have spacious rooms, fireplaces, and glorious bay windows. There are also some one-bedroom cottages, which are perfect for families. The most recent addition to Cranwell's architectural landscape is Olmsted Manor, which houses the new lobby, welcome desk, and concierge services, and has 10 beautiful new rooms and suites.

Dining is no exception when it comes to excellence at Cranwell. Executive chef Carl DeLuce creates daily menus that both please the palate and shrink the waistline. There are four restaurant options and each has a menu that includes specially prepared spa cuisine selections with the precise calorie and fat gram count indicated for each item. Breakfast is served in the Music Room; both lunch and dinner are served at Sloane's Tavern, which has a large terrace for outdoor dining with views of the golf course. Here guests can enjoy a traditional menu of delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers, as well as grilled seafood.

Activities
Golf, of course, is a favorite at Cranwell. Cranwell is also home to four outdoor hard-tru tennis courts and offers a top-notch tennis program, led by a seasonal tennis professional. There are private lessons, round robins, and "beat the pro" matches. Enjoy a host of water activities, such as water aerobics, in the indoor or heated outdoor pools. The Spa Fitness Center is equipped with a complete line of cardiovascular and strength training equipment plus an exercise studio offering yoga, aerobic and stretch classes. Bicycle rentals are available and there are many outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, canoeing, fishing and horseback riding nearby.

Very nice facility. Services, particularly the facials, were wonderful. Amy did a terrific job on the facial. My skin never felt and looked better. Very relaxing! This is what a spa should be!

Just returned from a girlfriend getaway. We were all in agreement that the spa treatments were excellent. However, the facilities did not give you the 'spa experience.' The facilities were outdated and we felt we were in a 'locker room' environment. There is no music playing except during your treatments. The facility is being renovated so maybe there is hope that the upgrade will improve the environment. There was no personal touch and we felt we were on our own. In fact, during check-in, no one told us where to get the robes, slippers, etc. We also were not advised that the facility was being renovated and that we had to use the men's facilities. Maybe we are 'spa snobs' as there was only ice water....no water with cucumber or lemon. We'd go back if the spa facilities improved.

Ask for Dan for your massage. He is the best ever. Try the spa lunch. Dottie in the dining room is truly a delightful person. Highly recommend the spa.

Cranwell has great spa facilities. There is a pool separate from thge spa but still close enough to enjoy as part of your day. It would be worth a day trip and also an overnight trip. I went with a friend and did the Girl's Getaway weekend package. The food in the tavern was very good and portions were huge. The spa lunch was delicious and healthy. I had a massage and a pedicure. Both treatments were wonderful.

I celebrated my 40th birthday at Cranwell last fall and it was wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and the spa treatments were fantastic. We were a big group and they handled the reservations efficiently, including several last minute changes and add-ons. Great price for the services in a friendly, casual, non-intimidating atmosphere.

I was going to visit my girlfriend from college who lives in Western MA and we were looking for a place to escape to for a night when we stumbled upon the Cranwell. We wanted a quick easy getaway to escape the trials and tribulations of real live (and the kids).We arrived on Friday morning, and were greeted by the wonderful staff. We checked into a beautiful room and headed to the spa for an incredible day of bliss. The spa was first-rate. The service was great, the spa was great, and we were very pleased with the resort.We did the Spa Escape package which included 1 spa service, lunch at the spa, and a dinner at Sloan's Tavern. The food at both places (and the next day at the Mansion) was excellent. The room was FABULOUS, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely go back! What a great escape. I highly recommend the Cranwell to anyone. The grounds are beautiful. I'm so glad we found the Cranwell. It's a hidden gem!
