Long to Short
I have lived in the Winchester area for years and have tried almost every salon. Somewhere along the line, I decided that the easiest thing for me to do was let my hair grow and wear it in a ponytail primarily because I couldn't find anyone to cut it properly. When I went for color, the results I got were not better than drugstore "box" color. Then I found Daniel. He cut my hair from long to short - it is adorable and very easy to care for...the way he cut it encourages my natural wave and I was afraid if I went to short hair I would look like my body was too big for my head. Well, Daniel is a genius and he got it just right. It is pricey, but well worth it in my estimation. I secured my second appointment before leaving the first. This is now "my" salon. Hooray!

Daniel is the greatest
I moved to the Virginia area a few months ago, I have always used the Aveda product line so I looked for a salon I found one I'm not going to name the salon but what I will say is that I spent a lot of money and wasn't happy. So again I had to search for another salon I found Daniel, from the time I walked in till the time I left it was a great experience. Daniel took his time with me and I finally got the color and cut I wanted. If you are looking for a great stylist go see Daniel he is worth every penny you pay.

Won't even accomodate a new client
Just called in to try to make an appointment and perhaps they're very very busy, but Daniel wouldn't even try to accomodate me. He said for new clients, it can be difficult as they need more time. I understand that, but really? All I want is a trim! I was open about the days I could come in and he was adamant about me coming in on one of the days I couldn't. I hung up...I'll look elsewhere for a salon.

Finally, D.C. quality stylist in Winchester!
I don't want to be anything but honest so if you're easily offended... stop reading now. I've lived in many cities across the U.S. and moved to Shenandoah County from D.C. over a year ago. I've been fortunate to have visited many high quality salons and had some top-notch cuts/colors over the years. I've tried a handfull here in the area and been sadly disappointed each time. I reluctanly decided to try one more time and give De Rouge a chance before resorting to making the trek back into D.C. every 6 weeks just to get a decent cut! Daniel, the owner, is nothing but professional, knowledgeable and fun! He has worked with top stylists in key cities in the U.S. and it shows in, not only his abilities but in his consultation skills and his coaching of his clients. He took the time to "coach" me on a totally new way to blow dry my hair... Not only will I be returning, but I can say that I got one of the best (if not the best) cuts/styles I've actually ever had! Btw, I always wondered if these reviews were "real" or you know.... whatever... this one is real. I never knew him before I walked in the door and am just so pleased with my cut I had to add my two cents here....

Wonderful experience every time
When I first went to Moulin Rouge, I was impressed with the ambiance of the salon. Beautiful furniture, decorated beautifully. Daniel, the owner, took good care of me. He made me feel relaxed as soon as I stepped in the door. Atmosphere was warm and inviting and very calming. My hair looked better than it ever has. Daniel is a true professional stylist and I refuse to go anywhere else. He makes you feel like part of his salon family and knows you by name. He has trained and worked with the best stylists in the DC area and the Winchester, Va area is lucky to have a place to go to without any salon drama....just pure professionalism. If you have driven by his salon and questioned whether or not this place is worth the time, just give it one chance and you will be a client for life.

Have been going there for over 3 years
Daniel has been a God send. I was going to a lady that never could quite get what I wanted her to do (I have a very short hairstyle). Daniel runs a well organized shop with kind employees that are there to work and not "hang out" with their co-workers. My mother lives in Illinois and whenever she comes to visit we make an appointment for her because she has not found anyone there that could cut her hair that both she and my dad like. In other words, a woman waits six months and travels 700 miles to have her hair done by Daniel... What else is there to say?

Excellent Salon
I was specifically looking for an Aveda salon because I love their color. This ended up being the perfect place because Daniel is knowledgeable, takes his time, and really focuses on you. You do not have to worry about him constantly talking to other people or running out for a smoke break instead of working with you. He gets to know you and makes you happy to be there spending money! A little pricey, but totally worth it compared to the average place to get a hair cut in Winchester. Intimate setting and you do not feel like you are on display. Easy to get in and out, get an appt. One of the few places I have been able to walk out of and not had to re-do my hair before I went out in public.

Daniel didn't listen to what I asked for
I was new to the area, brought a picture, typically trust Aveda salons. Daniel did what he wanted, cut my hair too short and overprocessed the color. When I said the highlights were too severe, he quickly dragged me away from a mirror and dumped some darker color on top of my head. I even tried again for a trim a couple months later, but all the wine and smiles aren't enough for me to be dumb enough to go back again. The girl I eventually found at Elie Elie (recently closed) is the person I will follow. She spent a year helping me through hair recovery, and I get plenty of compliments on my natural color and cut these days.

Visit this spa at least once in your life.
Let me start by saying that this a great place to go for every reason imaginable. Any time I have been to a salon I feel as if the stylists and receptionists are judgmental and critical of their customers. Employees of the Moulin Rouge Salon are nothing like this. They talked to me with ease and were very nice and personable. The stylist, Daniel, knew exactly what he was doing when he cut my hair. I showed him a picture of what I wanted, my friends threw in a few suggestions, and he did exactly what I asked him to. He talked with me and joked with me. The whole place was very relaxed and comfortable. They use the products that they sell. This is a comfortable and satisfactory salon. Even if you are not so particular about your hair/salon experience, you should try the Moulin Rouge salon at least once. It is a great salon.

Not just a cut, but an experience.
After moving to the area, I was challenged to find a true salon experience. I like to get away and be pampered. I am a mom and professional and rarely take time for myself. Here, I feel special and Daniel always takes the time needed to do a great job. Service is a priority and the special touches he offers from great coffee or glass of wine or fresh fruit make it an experience and not just a hair cut. Of course, I love the Aveda products and the esthetician facials are wonderful. I only rate it a four on service variety, because it isn't a med spa, so don't look for those services. I have had a cut, color, massage, and facial here and will continue to return. I haven't had a pedicure, so I can't comment directly on the poor review. However, I can't imagine a disappointing experience with Daniel or any of the professionals in his salon. If you want a great cut, color, facial, massage,,,and just a great pampering experience I highly recommend this salon.

Wonderful Salon, Stylist and Staff
Daniel (Moulin Rouge) has transformed my hair from various shades of brown which I walked in with my first visit into a beautiful array of low to blond highlights. I also have a wonder longish style that brings me compliments at parties and family gatherings. Daniel Does It Right! Ashley gives the best facial I have ever experienced. I am like a new person when she is done and my skin is like new as well. This is one of the best salons in Winchester, VA (much needed) and I wish Daniel and his staff every success. He is a true professional and artist. His prices are comparable with other salons. On a personal note, he is one of the most positive people you can hope to meet, just the person that should be doing your hair. You will not be disappointed.. Devoted Client, Stephanie PS I woud love to see you have a New Year Open House for client appreciation, with Service Special Offers and Jewelry vendors for a special night of "Beauty and Jewels." Show your clients the beauty, art and poetry of Persia!

Spoil Me!
I have been going to Moulin Rouge for about a year now, and won't be going anywhere else. The quality of the care that I receive there is wonderful, I am considered a friend and not just another customer. If your having a bad day, Daniella will massage your shoulders and make you feel wonderful. He even offers you a beverage or chocolate while he is working with you. I LOVE IT! Instead of getting just a cut, I get spoiled and feel like a queen when I leave. Its terrific! Thank you Moulin Rouge for everything! Your the best!

Never Going Back!
I got two gift certificates for this place. I went in for a pedicure. There was no massage chair or jetted bowl, just an office chair and a basin. When I went to pay I was given one price once the owner realized I had gift certificates the price jumped! Neither price was a bargain considering the service. I was only allowed to use one gift certificate and I couldn't use them for product. None of this was stated on the gift certificate. The owner appears to make up the rules and prices as he goes. I will never return, not even to redeem my second gift certificate. Horrible business practices!!
