I came with my sister-in-law from London. We both had an Aroma Full Body Massage. It was brilliantly soothing and relaxing and perfect for my sister-in-law who had just done a triathlon! She woke herself up snoring during the massage! LOL!

This is quite simply the most relaxing and enjoyable spa I have ever been to. from the moment you step through the door you are treated to the most welcoming and enjoyable experience. It is truly a haven hidden in the city and I cant recommend it highly enough. Dont bother going anywhere else for a massage - it wont beat anything here!

This was my fourth visit to the Five Senses Day Spa - and once again, this was just a superb experience. I feel like a new person - all of the stress I was carrying has simply melted away. Came here as a couple to enjoy a massage together. The two ladies who performed the massage were excellent. Very courteous, polite and professional. The massage itself was out of this world. The ladies asked if there were any problems areas and focussed on those areas throughout the massage. They really know what they are doing and after arriving with stiff joints we left feeling relaxed and a lot less stiff. Highly recommended and we would be sure to return. A little piece of authentic Thai indulgence in the heart of Yorkshire? Yes - it's true. Transport yourself back to the delights of your visits to Thailand, and literally have all your senses re-awakened. Only being outdoors in the tropics for your treatment could enhance the experience, but I cannot fault the 5 Senses. Dang's signature treatment is a must, whatever your gender, and my partner and friends have only compliments to share about all their experiences with her and her colleagues. Go on - your deserve it!

Just came back from a fantastic 'aroma massage' at 5 senses day spa. From the outside the building was uninspiring but inside was beautifully decorated with authentic Thai furniture and comfortable sofas. I was provided with everything I needed, including tea, water, lockers and a robe and slippers. The massage itself started with a lovely foot wash/scrub and massage and was followed by a full body (inclusing scalp) massage. The therapist was excellent and I left feeling relaxed and rejuvinated - no small feat as I am in the middle of moving house! I will definately return and would recommend others in the York area pay a visit.

I've been to loads of spas but this one was different, less clinical and laboratory like more total relaxation. Beautiful smells, flowers and cushions everywhere, the most fantastic home made ginger tea! I went with my 14 year old daughter and we shared the couples room, she loved it and the therapist was very calming as she was a little nervous. We both really really enjoyed it and booked another treatment on our way out once we had woken up from being so relaxed! Fantastic place, really recommend it.

All I can say is "This experience was wonderful to me" Last week I had my third treatment and it was every bit as great as the first! My daughter bought me a gift voucher for Christmas (which I haven't used yet) so I will definitely be going again and I am no "apring chicken" I was slightly embarrassed on my first visit being an older client but there was no need at all to feel embarrassment the staff are all lovely.

My cousin and I visited 5 Senses Spa during a weekend away in York.
It was absolutely brilliant. From the initial booking right through our arrival, treatment and departure.
All the staff we had contact with were extremely friendly, professional and made us feel at ease.
Our treatments were lovely, I love my nails! We felt completely relaxed and actually wished we'd have booked more than one treatment!

For my 21st Birthday my friends booked me an express de-stress massage at 5 Senses Thai Day spa, York. I was looking forward to my massage and 5 Senses spa did not dissapoint. I really enjoyed the whole process of the massage, from booking in at the reception desk to the treatment itself, to the relaxing room and offer of green or camomile tea after the massage. I would definatley reccomend this spa to anyone who wants to pamper themselves or even treat a family member or friend to a gift voucher for a treatment.

Absolutely fantastic spa. My sisters and I travelled from the south to see our parents who were unwell and it was a pretty stressful time. We decided to go to the 5 Senses and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from the moment we walked through the door. We all had different treatments and they were amazing. The girls were helpful, knowledgeable and superb at their profession. My anti stress massage was the best I have ever had and I have been to numerous spas. I found this spa to be excellent. The decor and atmosphere is really good and the staff were warm and welcoming. The best thing abou the spa though was the brilliant treatment. I had absolute massage with Chakra Balancing and my husband had anti stress therapy - we both thought it was the best massage we had ever had and we have been to a lot of spas. You will probably find spas with more facilities - pool, steam rooms etc and a bigger range of treatments but if you are just after a good quality treatment with expert staff I would highly recommend this spa. I would definately go back!

I've had this treatment a couple of times and absolutely love it.I love the ambience that 5Senses provides.The treatment starts from the moment you walk through the door.The music is relaxing and the atmosphere so peaceful and calm (I tend to arrive a little early to enjoy the waiting room!) and it always smells nice!To start with I had a hot towel for my face and hands and a glass of water and then went upstairs for my back,neck and head massage which lasted 45mins.The massage was thorough without being uncomfortable and I enjoyed the oils that were used(and my skin smelt lovely through the day). Every detail of the experience is so well thought out from the low lighting, music and massage bed which has flowers under it so you aren't looking at the floor to the delicious lemongrass tea afterwards.Again,I stayed a little later than I needed to after my treatment because I enjoy the atmosphere and peacefulness of the waiting room.This is a fantastic spa and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Going to the Spa was actually a Birthday gift for my partner from his daughter and she kindly paid for me to accompany him. It was a treat from start to finish the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. The staff extremely caring and courteous. As for the Aroma therapy massage this was just so relaxing you didn't think about anything care about anything - you were totally in a different place. You then wondered where the hour had gone. The feeling afterwards was one of calmness and serentiy. We sat for a while in the relaxing area drinking fruit tea and savouring the expereince in the tranquil surroundings. A wonderful experience enjoyed by both of us and we will certainly be returning.

I had a gift card bought for me for Xmas - the experiecne was wonderful. I bought my mum too who also came out of the experience feeling totally chillaxed. Spent the day at the spa for my daughters hen party. It was the first time I have ever had a proper massage and it was really relaxing and enjoyable. The manicure I had was fantastic. My spa experience was lovely, very comfortable and a relaxed environment. The only down side is the location, which is a shame as this is something the spa cannot change. Being right on a fairly busy road my experience was somewhat interupted by police cars (with sirens) going past the window and noise from the street.

I love 5 senses Thai spa! As someone who is quite partial to a nice pamper I have been to quite a few places but none are as relaxing as 5 senses and the actual treatments are the best I have ever had - including in a 5 star hotel in thailand! The amosphere is lovely, the staff are very friendly and professional and the treatments are amazing. The thai tasters are espacially good value and they have loyalty cards where you can earn a free treatment. All in all 10 out of 10 from me!

I had a voucher bought for me as a gift for a taster back, neck and shoulder massage. It was bliss. Didnt get her name but she was very nice, friendly and professional.
I want to go back again, sooner rather then later.
The atmosphere is calming and has a lovely smell.
Loved the tai tea after my treatment.

Amazing, from being buzzed in to the spa, you instantly relax, its like walking of the street and straight into thailand, the smells and music relax you instantly and I found myself inhaling deeply to get some more of it. First vist so fill in the usual forms, and then I was told about special offers available to me being NHS staff, most place I have been to I have found they keep these quiet... Introduced to Weewan, my magician for the next hour. Very polite, and as I was unsure what to expect in a western thai spa, (having been to one in thailand) she made me feel relaxed straight away with a traditional thai foot scrub, then she started with the massage, what can I say about the massage? well, it was shear bliss, the end result was me feeling like I had been poured onto the table, and wishing I had taken my wallet so that I could have stayed there longer. Will I go again? already changed my birthday present list and a visit back to the Spa for an all over traditional thai massage is top of the list.

This was a gift from a friend - not something I'd ever have chosen to do, but really glad I did!
The treatment was strange at first (my first Thai massage) but my host was friendly and made sure I was ok, asking me to let her know if I was not comfortable. Within about 10 minutes, I was so relaxed I could have fallen asleep! It was a very 'pampering' experience and definitely something I'll do again. I've already spoken to friends about it and will be treating my mum in the next few months!

Pat's Hot Stone Massage TreatmentBy SandraI | June 11, 2010
I have had two visits to the 5 Senses Thai Spa, and on both occasions have had the Hot Stone Treatment. A wonderful and relaxing hour and a half, while Pat eases away the stress from aching muscles, leaving the body totally relaxed and free of pain, and a feeling of well being. It is only fair to say relaxation starts from the moment you enter the Spa, the soft tone music and the aromatic aromas, the friendlyness of everyone . I am now looking forward to my next treatment.

Aroma fully body massage with DangBy CharlotteF | June 11, 2010
I do not have a wealth of experience of Thai massages or spa's, this was the first time I have been to this treatment centre, as a gift from my boyfriend, but it was absolutely fantastic. The whole experience was wonderful, I was treated individually, I have several shoulder and neck issues which Dang worked really hard to help me with, and I left feeling very relaxed, happy and on top of the world to be honest. I will definately be back to visit just as soon as I possibly can, and would highly recommend this spa to anyone looking to take a time out from daily life.Thank you so much to everyone

Having spent some time living in Thailand I have struggled since returning to the UK to find a Thai massage that I would consider 'authentic', finding instead massages to be rather tame and catering to what may be considered 'relaxing' to the western market. However, this massage was different. I have to say that Itz, my masseur at 5 Senses Spa, delivered as close to the real deal as she was able to on a western massage table (Thai massage in Thailand is usually delivered on a low lying mattress) and showed real expertise at manoevering my big western body into the various positions needed to really strip it of tension and stress. She put me into the zone and I left the Spa feeling supple, de-stressed, light on my feet and nostalgic for my time in Thailsnd when a good massage was my weekly treat. I will certainly be returning and recommending to friends.

I was treated to vouchers for this spa for my birthday. Popping in to book my first treatment, I found the staff really friendly, polite and considerate - I'm pregnant and they ensured that the treatments would be tailored to suit my stage of pregnancy.
Arriving on the day I relaxed in the sumptuous waiting area and was soon shown upstairs to the treatment room. The therapist was really polite and pleasant, considerate of my "condition" and highly skilled - talk about magic hands! Unfortunately being pregnant I couldn't have any strongly scented oils but I left the spa smelling divine and feeling really revitalised.
I'd had an aroma full body massage (carefully carried out by the therapist so I didn't have to put myself in any difficult positions) and a gorgeous tingly head massage. A real highlight for me was the luxurious heated bed which worked with the therapist to ease away my pregnancy aches!
I'd definitely recommend this spa to others and have booked my partner in for a treatment too. I'm looking forward to using up the rest of my voucher!

I have been for massages in the past but this massage I found a little bit special.
The environment is calming, the lotions used smelt gorgeous, I felt totally relaxed during massage and after, every consideration given to the customer.
I will definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.

I was given a visit to this spa as a birthday present, and received Thai taster treats. This consisted of a head, neck and back massage, and then a facial, lasting 45 minutes each. The decor and rooms are authentic with soothing music playing, and I was offered Thai tea since I arrived early. The treatments themselves were fantastic; I had no idea what to expect since this was my first spa visit, but I felt relaxed and at ease. The therapist leaves the room to allow you to undress, and instructs you to leave your underwear on - which was useful for a first-timer like me who wasn't sure how much clothes I should take off!
I received my massage first, and the therapist stretched my limbs and then used lovely warm oil on my back, neck and shoulders. It did not feel like 45 minutes at all, it passed so quickly! The therapist actually climbed onto the table at some points in order to lean into my muscles properly, but she did it so quietly and effortlessly that I wasn't disturbed. Next was a head massage, which felt really really nice. Then I had my facial which was just divine - I lost count of how many gorgeous-smelling lotions and exfoliating scrubs were massaged into my skin. It was even more relaxing than the back massage (if possible!) and I actually drifted off a few times. At the end my face was moisturised, lip balm applied, and then she rang a little bell to signal it was the end of the treatment, which again was helpful for new clients. You get dressed again in private, and are offered Thai tea once you go back downstairs.
In short, this was a fantastic first spa experience for me. Thai taster treatments are a great gift to give to people wishing to try spa treatments for the first time. I can't compare Thai massage to other types of massage, but I can certainly say this was not my last!

5 senses spa is a fantastic find, within easy walking distance of York City Centre this spa is a thai oasis. The staff are very attentive and their hands work magic, each of us had a different treatment and each of us left there feeling relaxed, pampered and all wishing we could have spent longer there. I could not recommend this haven of tranquility more and we are already thinking of ways to return as soon as possible.

I was bought a spa voucher for my birthday from my work colleagues as they knew I had visited the spa before and enjoyed it.
This time was no different.
For two and a half hours I was treated perfectly. From the greeting inside the salon to the moment I left, everything was excellent.
Pat was immensely skilled. Her treatment, I believe, was developed personally and was exactly what I expected.
It is hard to believe that the spa is on a busy road, the atmosphere inside is so calming.
I would recommend this spa to everyone.

I was bought a spafinder gift voucher and found this spa was the nearest to me. It was absolutely amazing, I don't know where to start. I was not sure what treatment to have and the english receptionist talked me through the different treatments and techniques and explained how thai treatments are different to other massages. I booked a half day package and had a body scrub that made my skin feel so soft and believe it or not I a sure my skin was shining! The scrubs are made by the spa and I did not know which one to choose as there were so many lovely scrubs. I had tamarind asian herbs and honey and could have eaten it, it smelt devine! I then had a thai massage, it was like no other massage I have ever had before, it was actually done by a thai girl, i thought it would be an english girl who has been to college and learnt thai massage but all the therpists were thai and the one I had told me that they had all trained at a special temple in thailand. She stretched and exercised my body in ways that I did not know my body could stretch! Then I had a gorgeous full body massage and the girl actually climbed on my back at one point but even that was so relaxing. I then nearly fell asleep in a facial to help put moisture back in my skin, my skin is still feeling smooth and silky and this 5 weeks ago! I was truly amazed by the whole spa, the inside of the spa is decorated like you would like your own home to be, colourful and cosy not white and clinical like alot of spa i have been to. It has furniture from thailand, fruit tea from thailand, music that nearly made me go to sleep when i had only just walked in, thai therapists who have magic fingers, it really makes me want to go to thailand. It has really proved to me that there is a great side to thailand and not just the things you hear about it! I could gush on about this heavenly place for hours, it is a spa like i have never been to before and it is the only one i will ever to go again. I have never felt so spoilt and pampered and relaxed in my life all I can say is that everyone must go where ever you live it is worth travelling to. It deserves 10 stars it is 10 star luxury!!!
