Encompassing the beautiful, snow-capped mountain ranges of the Alps, Switzerland provides a safe haven from the bustle of everyday life and is ideal for a spa vacation. Like many of its neighbors, Switzerland has a long spa tradition. The spa experience of western Switzerland varies from the lake-side spa towns of Montreux and Yverdon-les-Bains in the Lake Geneva region to the resort towns surrounded by unspoiled landscapes such as Gstaad in the Bernese-Oberland region. Lake Geneva has been a popular "holidaying region" since Roman times while the central positioning of Bernese-Oberland makes for easy travel throughout the country.

The resort and spa towns of these regions offer guests a variety of choice in treatments varying from lymphatic massages to reflexology. Bad Ragaz of eastern Switzerland is a major spa destination near Tamina Springs, whose waters are 93 degrees year round and are said to have been used medicinally for more than 600 years.
