One of the most popular destinations in Europe, Italy is the perfect setting for a spa vacation because of its generally temperate climate and healthy, but delicious food and wine.

Italy is best known for its healing thermal spas, mainly situated along the volcanic highlands in the northern part of the country. These spas use traditional thalassotherapy (using sea products such as seaweed) and balneotheraphy (using baths to treat specific conditions). Different regions have particular specialties depending on the chemical compounds found in local waters.

Tuscany and, further south, the area surrounding the Gulf of Naples are also popular spa destinations.
