Corridor of Los Cabos

At the southernmost tip of Baja California you will find Los Cabos, or "the capes." At one time a remote holiday destination for just a privileged few--John Wayne and Ernest Hemingway were among those who came to fish and sail along its two coastlines--nowadays its emerald green-and-cerulean-blue waters, are easily accessible by plane.

Los Cabos is actually an all-inclusive term that refers to the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo along with the 20-mile stretch of pristine and often deserted beaches and stunning cliff vistas that link the two.

San Jose del Cabo is a quaint Old Mexico mission village with one- and two-story pastel buildings, narrow streets, a shady plaza and a bandstand, while Cabo San Lucas has a history as a gathering place for pirates and is the site of the remarkable El Arco--towering rock pinnacles that form an arch where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet. The scene is evolving, but at the moment San Jose remains the more laid back of the two.
