Ok. Where do I begin. I was looking for a hairstylist to add some highlights or ombre to my hair to give me a lighter look for spring. I naturally have very long, dark hair and wanted a really classy, natural looking highlight. I was paired with Ellie in which I have heard great things about her. When I arrived to the salon, I waited in the chair for over 20 minutes for her to see me.... Finally when she comes to greet me, she smells so heavily of smoke and barely says two words to me. I was very friendly and tried making small talk but it took her until almost halfway through my hair for her to warm up to me.... her client. I explained to her that i have "virgin" hair, I NEVER put dye in it and this is a big step for me. I told her I heard great things about her and really trusted her. I just should have known by her demeanor she would not take the quality time for my hair. She rushed through my ombre or whatever you would like to call it, and I felt she just didn't really care. Unfortunately for me, she was having relationship issues and my hair had to suffer. The color came out extremely blonde which was such a horrible shade for my dark hair- I looked like a striped cat. I told her I wanted really nice layered cuts and angles.... My hair was uneven in the front- the two layers didnt even match up, and she took all of 15-20 minutes to cut it, she dyed "accidental" pieces where the top of the hair was dyed and the bottom was dyed but the middle wasn't touched, and pieces were totally blunted and not faded in properly. When I had mentioned the blunted streaks to her, she simply said, "well when you hair is down you wont notice it'. I paid a lot of money for this hairstyle and tipped her extremely well and basically wasted 175$ because I wound up getting a dye box from CVS and coloring over the mess she did to my hair. I recently got my hair fixed at Ulta in Massapequa and the stylist did such a beautiful job and listened to exactly what I wanted and used her knowledge and expertise to give me a beautiful haircut, style and color. Some people truly are artists when they do hair and some are there for the money and tips.
