A mix of belle époque and grandeur merge at this Leading Spas of the World property, where highlights include an 18-hole championship golf course dating back to the 1930s and a 2,500-square-meter spa that uses the region’s thermal waters in signature treatments. Clean lines, airy spaces and white marble reflect the Vidago Palace SPA’s modern, minimalist esthetic, designed by architect Alvaro Siza-Vieira. Twenty treatment rooms host an all-encompassing range of services, including both signature and exclusive Clarins and Aromatherapy Associates skincare, body and massage rituals. The spa’s hallmark is the Ultimate Vidago Experience, a customized treatment that relaxes guests with a lavender- and rosemary-infused bath, an 80-minute massage and soothing facial. Spa-goers may also collaborate with the on-site medical team to personalize a treatment program of Vidago Spa Water Therapies, said to heal such ailments as digestive conditions and muscular aches and boost metabolism.

The spa’s invitation to wellness ensues with additional amenities, comprising an indoor swimming pool, outdoor vitality pool and hammam with steam room, sauna and ice fountain. Spa guests may also want to arrive early to experience the sensorial showers or hot tub. Couple’s suites come appointed with thermal baths and private hammams.

The natural mineral sparkling water of Vidago, recognized for its healing properties is used in treatments and health programs developed under the expert guidance of our medical team. The sparkling water of Vidago can also be tasted in its sources (the fountains) and with its natural properties.

Rooms & Dining

Vidago Palace’s 66 guest rooms, four of them suites, evoke the graceful refinement of an English country manor fused with high-tech comforts. Soft hues, authentic Portuguese crafts, parquet flooring, hand-loomed rugs and custom-made furnishings create a sophisticated aesthetic, while plasma-screen TVs and WiFi Internet access add a touch of modernism.

Guests can indulge in classic Portuguese and regional cuisine at the hotel’s four restaurants. In the belle époque-style Salão Nobre, fine gourmet dining includes traditional northern dishes prepared with local organic produce. A rich experience can also be had in the Winter Garden, where guests will savor buffet-style breakfast while basking in the natural light that beams from the glass conservatory roof. More casual options include the Clubhouse or the Pool Bar, which offers lighter fare. Portion-controlled dishes are served at the spa’s Juice Bar.
