The Maldives

The naturally beautiful paradise of the Maldives is comprised of more than 1,000 low-lying coral islands. Overflowing with marine life, the archipelago known as the Maldives caters almost exclusively to luxury travelers and has turned many of its uninhabited islands into beautiful resort destinations. Maldivian spas offer a variety of treatments like the Veli Modun—a treatment using cool, wet sand, acupressure, and native pure coconut oil.

For those who are willing to leave their isolation for a few hours, isle hopping is made possible by the main form of Maldivian transportation: the dhoni, an all-purpose boat usually made from the timber of the coconut palm. The dhoni can be seen sailing the blue waters of the Maldives at any time of day or night.

Water sports are quite popular in Maldives. Visitors can mingle with the locals while windsurfing, water skiing, and scuba diving. Fully equipped tennis, football, and volleyball facilities are available for land-lovers.
