Puerto Rico

Though a commonwealth of the United States, Puerto Rico has strong ties to its Spanish heritages. Visitors often spend their days wandering the narrow cobblestone streets and admiring the beautiful plazas and historic buildings of Old San Juan, a neighborhood in the nation's capital city that is more than 450 years old. Nights in San Juan are much more high energy. Flamboyant cabaret shows and casinos can be found in the Condado and Isla Verde areas and salsa is almost everywhere.

But if city life isn't for you, be sure to visit Vieques. The small island off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico is home to a bioluminescent bay that literally glows in the dark due to light produced by tiny protozoa that live in it.
