Global Spa & Wellness Summit Snapshot: All You Need to Know
This year marks the seventh annual Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS), the award-winning, premier event for the international spa and wellness industry, which SpaFinder® Wellness co-founded in the early 2000s and is proud to be among the sponsors today.
“At SpaFinder Wellness we see growing demand from consumers around the globe who want to keep well every day. We are proud to support the GSWS, which provides the leadership, research, and global authority our industry needs to better guide the services, programs, and products that ultimately lead to healthier lifestyles, whether in Asia, Europe, Africa, or the Americas,” says Mia Kyricos, chief brand officer of SpaFinder Wellness.
Since the initial Summit in NYC in 2007, the GSWS has catapulted to become the leading global research and educational resource for the $1.9-trillion spa and wellness industry. Each annual Summit offers an up-to-the-minute agenda devoted to cutting-edge topics that define and shape the industry, keynote addresses by internationally acclaimed speakers, and event locations that have varied from Bali to Istanbul.
Here’s a quick snapshot we’re proud to share with you.
Global Spa & Wellness Summit
Spearheaded by GSWS Chairman and CEO Susie Ellis, who is also president of SpaFinder Wellness, the Summit is an international organization that assembles leaders, visionaries, and top executives of diverse sectors—hospitality, investment, finance, real estate, medicine, technology, and more—with the end goal of shaping the future of the global spa and wellness industries. Main objectives include the initiation of quality research and the promotion of community, innovation, and collaboration to establish industry solutions.

Why We’re So Excited:
There are so many reasons we’re excited about this particular Summit that to count them would take all day. So since we know everyone’s crunched for time, we’re going to list our top three:
1. The theme of the 2013 Summit, “A Defining Moment,” plays a key role in today’s industry, as we’re transforming from “spa” to “spa and wellness.”
2. This year’s Summit marks the inauguration of the Global Wellness Tourism Congress, where ministers of tourism, along with wellness tourism movers-and-shakers, will gather together to strategize on marketing objectives—among other initiatives—of this rapidly developing travel sector.
3. And….drumroll, please…His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be a keynote speaker at the Summit! Not only is he a Nobel Peace Prize winner, author, and arguably the most recognized spiritual leader of the world, the Dalai Lama was named the most popular world leader in the U.S. and six European nations, says a Harris Interactive poll conducted in May. We’re so excited we can barely contain ourselves.
