Snoop Inside Our Beauty Editors’ Cabinets
We think a good beauty editor should always share her secrets—which is why we’re allowing you a sneak peek into our beauty cabinets to see the makeup, skin-care, and body products we can’t possibly live without. Sometimes it pays to be a bit nosey!
Jackie’s Picks:
Amala Rejuvenate Collection: I’m pretty much addicted to this all-natural skin care brand (and have had a number of estheticians tell me it’s working wonders) but of all the products I cannot live without the Rejuvenate collection made with cocoa bean – it’s great for anti-aging since cocoa beans (and these puppies are fair trade and certified organic!) are known to renew skin elasticity – plus, the whole collection smells amazing. My #1 must have? The Rejuvenating Toner – just a few sprays of this toner and I am feeling and looking completely refreshed and well…rejuvenated!
Miracle Skin Transformer Heal Everything Balm: Using the power of Manuka honey this balm is perfect for everything from blemishes that you’ve bothered (hello at-home “dermatologist” disasters) to cuts and burns, and even extremely dry skin – it provides immediate relief, reduces inflammation , and visibly soothes skin fast.
Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment: Confession time: My secret weapon when it comes to skin care is less than $10 and can be found at your local supermarket. Growing up I did NOT have clear skin and I searched everywhere for a fast-acting “make-it-go-away-now” blemish treatment and found my miracle product in Clean & Clear. Fast forward to now and while I have access to amazing skin care that has my skin looking better than ever I still will occasionally be plagued by a pimple – this product sends those pesky buggers packing… OVERNIGHT!
Natura Bisse The Cure Sheer Eye: Thanks to my olive coloring I’ve inherited some serious dark circles, that no amount of H2O-guzzling or snooze-time seems to be able to clear, so I’m always on the hunt for a great eye cream and this one by Natura Bisse allows me to fake-it-til-I-make-it thanks to its active ingredients and a lovely sheer tint. While it covers up my dark circles (without looking like cakey concealer) it uses an SIRT-AP peptide complex to fight wrinkles, botanical extracts like Water Lily and Caffeine-Carnitine Complex to fight dark circles, all while keeping that delicate under eye area hydrated and looking luminous!
Red Door Spa Professional Nourishing Multi-Vitamin Mask: Blending a concentrated dose of antioxidants, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and Hyaluronic acid, this mask boosts hydration and plumps my skin to perfection. I love all of the products in Red Door Spa Professional’s Customized Daily Essentials Line but this product takes the cake. Using it is basically like getting an amazing Red Door Spa facial right in the comfort of home!
Kate’s Picks:
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil: I use this organic oil for absolutely everything—from my skin (after moisturizer by day and retinol by night) and my hair to my nails and even my eyelashes.
Caudalie Lip Conditioner: One swipe of this lip conditioner—made with 99.5-percent naturally derived ingredients, including grape-seed polyphenols—lasts for hours; I put it on before bed knowing it will moisturize through the night and still be there when I wake up the next morning.
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: It’s said to be the number-one cleanser sold at Sephora—a fact that doesn’t surprise me in the least. It’s gentle and leaves my skin soft while simultaneously removes all makeup (I use it with my Clarisonic brush)—plus, soy proteins are reported to retain moisture, boost elasticity, and maintain firmness.
Yon-Ka Fruitelia PS: This anti-aging moisturizer goes on smooth, makes my skin feel super-hydrated, and fosters a subtle scent—derived from AHA-rich extracts like lemon, orange, blueberry, maple, and sugar cane.
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask: I wear this über-hydrating, cloth-like mask when no one’s around, as the effect makes one seriously resemble Jason from the Friday the 13th movies—but, boy, does it make my complexion look its best. The brand recommends wearing it approximately 20 minutes, but I apply it before bed and leave it on as I sleep whenever my skin needs a pick-me-up.
