Back in June we shared the opening of L’Apothecary Spa, the beautiful, inspired-by-nature spa at L’Auberge de Sedona, nestled in the Red Rocks and set along Oak Creek. Here, guests will feel as though they are visiting an actual apothecary, where they will find unique treatments and signature products aimed to heal the mind, body, and soul through the power of nature.
Drawing on the connection guests make with the creek during their stay at L’Auberge, the property partnered with Lotus Wei to hand-collect and extract flower, plant, and an Oak Creek essence to create a natural signature scent which is featured in mists, scrubs, and oils. As well, these essences play an important part in the two new treatments at L’Apothecary:
Feet in the Creek, literally connects you to your surroundings through Earthing. Guests will be led to the clear-water Oak Creek where they will step into the ankle-deep water and wade around before they are seated creek-side with their bare feet still resting on the earth. Here they will receive a head, neck, and shoulder massage, followed by a reflexology treatment which uses the signature L’Apothecary flower essence serum containing:
- Rose: Sweetness, attentiveness, feeling cared for, and protection
- Rosemary: Psychic awareness, ancient wisdom, mental sharpness, clarity, and perception
- Lemon Blossom: Pure, childlike perspective, playfulness, and a fresh awareness
Quiet Mind, inspired by Lotus Wei’s Quiet Mind flower essence (which I always keep in my purse!), helps you let go of physical and mental tension. You’ll start with relaxing and calming breathing techniques while your therapist attunes facial acupressure points and just as your mind is quiet, you will experience a deeply relaxing massage.
Lotus Wei and L’Apothecary didn’t stop at the signature scents and treatments! For guests that like to get hands-on and create a truly personalized experience, a visit the blend bar is a must! Here, you can create your own custom body care products using the destination’s own healing botanicals, fragrant herbs, and flowers, starting at $30. Using ingredients that are native to the area, guests can blend and concoct their own unique scrubs and bath salts to bring home to experience the magic of L’Auberge long after they’ve left.
I was lucky enough to sit down with Managing Director Greg Hanss and Lotus Wei founder Katie Hess who told me more about the spa and brought the blending bar to me so I could create my own Aphrodisiac Soak. Use the recipe below to create the soak at home!
L’Apothecary Aphrodisiac Soak
- 1 tablespoon rose petals – for unconditional love
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom – a warming aphrodisiac
- 1 teaspoon cacao – an antioxidant
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg – to calm the mind
- 1 cup of mineral salt – to relax you
Mix all of the ingredients together, pour into a warm bath, and enjoy!
