Fairmont Hotels & Resorts achieved World Wildlife Fund Climate Savers Program targets
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts became the first hotel brand to achieve WWF Climate Savers Program targets. The brand, known for its Fairmont Sustainability Partnership, was able to reduce its operational CO2 emissions by 20 percent below its 2006 level, removing as much CO2 as would be generated by over 13,000 vehicles. At the Fairmont St. Andrews the colleague Sustainability Team held open forums where employees could make suggestions for how their own departments could make an impact. At Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, they saved more than 60 percent of annual electricity consumption by pumping water from Lake Geneva to air condition the hotel. The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii heats its pool using waste heat from a chiller system and is currently looking to apply solar films to windows and add panels on the roof to get more power from sustainable sources. We definitely tip our hats to them on this amazing and inspiring accomplishment.
